MAFS UK fans slam show for allowing 'abusive' Brad back for reunion special
Married At First Sight UK fans were horrified to see Brad Skelly back on the show weeks after he was given the boot due to ‘abusive’ behaviour.
The 27-year-old model from Grimsby was one of the original contestants on the show and was married to 31-year-old performing arts teacher Shona Manderson. But after two weeks of being on the hit E4 show, viewers - and the love coaches - were left distressed when Brad and Shona clashed explosively time and again.
There was concern that Brad was displaying coercive behaviour towards Shona - with many viewers claiming he was gaslighting his wife. And eventually the show relationship experts reached a smilier conclusion and forced Brad and Shona to quit the experiment due to these concerns.
Brad Skelly made an unexpected return to Married At First Sight (Channel 4)On Wednesday night, the final episode of the season aired, bringing back all the past contestants - including Brad and Shona. The move to bring Brad back to the show for the final episode sparked a furious response from MAFS fans who branded the show makers irresponsible.
Many viewers took to X to slam the series and vent their rage. One fan wrote online: "Thought the thug was kicked off for violent behaviour. Why has he been allowed back? All about ratings not protecting the casts well-being #MAFSUK" - alongside a swearing face emoji.

Another blasted the decision, writing: "I don't really get this show tbh. They ask Brad to leave because he's abusive and controlling but invite him back for the reunion. All good, you only kicked him off for a reason." Another outraged viewer wrote: “HOW did they allow brad on this reunion... mr gaslighter universe.” With another agreeing, writing: "Why is Brad at the reunion and not in jail."
MAFS UK fans were fuming when Brad and Shona returned to the show (E4)A further viewer slammed the editorial decision to allow him back on the show, writing: “When Brad comes back on the screen [vomit face emojis] shouldn’t have been allowed..abusers don’t deserve this platforming.”
Others slammed the fellow MAFS contestants, with one writing: "Brad is one of the worst people, who treated Shona badly, and some of the group were greeting him like a long lost cat." And another viewer complained, writing: "Brad needs to be caged, far away from decent people and vulnerable folk who are likely to join cults."
Last month, Channel 4 explained their decision to throw Shona and Brad out of the show, with a spokesman telling the Mirror: "The couple’s exit plays out in the show. It was agreed alongside experts Paul, Mel and Charlene that the intensive Married at First Sight environment was not working for the couple and it was the right time to leave the experiment.
"The relationships on Married at First Sight UK are closely monitored off screen, by production and an independent psychologist. If any of the relationships develop in a way that is deemed to be potentially unhealthy for either party, we would take expert psychological advice as to whether it was time for them to leave the process. The welfare of all contributors on Married at First Sight UK is our top priority and we ensure that appropriate support is available to contributors at all times during filming, including 24/7 access to a member of the welfare team or psych support."
