The latest instalment of Kenneth Branagh’s murder mystery franchise finally has a streaming date. Disney+ has confirmed that A Haunting in Venice will drop later this year, joining the previous films in the series on the streaming platform.

Set in eerie, post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve, the threequel is billed as “a terrifying mystery” featuring the return of Agatha Christie’s celebrated sleuth, Hercule Poirot. Now retired and living in self-imposed exile, Poirot reluctantly attends a séance at a decaying, haunted palazzo.

When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets. The film sees the return of Kenneth Branagh as the infamous detective, and combines the genre's typical whodunnit elements with horror.

It also reunites many of the filmmakers behind 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express and 2022’s Death on the Nile. A Haunting in Venice is directed by Kenneth Branagh with a screenplay by Oscar-nominated Logan writer Michael Green and based upon Agatha Christie’s 1969 novel Hallowe’en Party.

The film was produced and directed by Branagh, who stars alongside a stellar ensemble cast including Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Jude Hill, Ali Khan, Emma Laird, Kelly Reilly and Riccardo Scamarcio. The film has earned some of the warmest reviews of the series and is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Deadline said the film “captures what makes Agatha Christie’s work timeless,” while Entertainment Weekly said “Branagh scares up his best Poirot film yet.”

When A Haunting in Venice is coming out on Disney+ and how to stream for free

A Haunting in Venice will be available to stream with a subscription to Disney+ from Wednesday, November 22. Film fans can watch the film as part of a Black Friday deal at John Lewis that includes six months of Disney+ free.

The retailer has cut £400 off Samsung’s high-spec Neo QLED 4K UHD Smart TV and £300 off Samsung’s innovative The Frame QLED Smart TV, both of which come with six months of Disney+ at no extra cost. As if saving hundreds of pounds and getting months of free Disney+ isn’t enough, John Lewis is also throwing in 50 percent off selected soundbars for good measure.
