Emily Longley, 17, was tragically strangled to death in bed by her 'jealous' boyfriend Elliot Turner, 20, in 2011

Aspiring model Emily Longley was horrifically murdered by her 'aggressive and controlling' boyfriend, Elliot Turner, in May 2011, when she was just 17 years old. The New Zealand teen was staying with her partner's family in Bournemouth while studying in the UK when Turner, then 20, strangled her to death in his bed at home in a 'jealous rage'.

Turner was handed a life sentence at Winchester Crown Court in 2012 and told he would serve at least 16 years behind bars. His parents, Leigh and Anita Turner, were convicted of perverting the course of justice as they helped to cover up his heinous crime. Tonight, Emily's tragic murder is examined in Channel 5's documentary, Mummy's Little Murderer: The Killing of Emily Longley.

Turner, the son of a millionaire jeweller, was described by his own lawyer as "brash, flash, boastful, spoilt and volatile". He referred to women as 'birds' and showed little remorse for the killing in court. The judge told him during sentencing: "Your arrogance [has been] breathtaking... You can put away your thoughts of Champagne, Bentleys and girls, and concentrate instead on why you are serving a life sentence."

After Turner was locked up in HMP Swaleside in Kent, it was reported the evil killer bragged about receiving 'fan mail' from older women and even had pictures of Emily plastered on the walls of his cell. He allegedly showed fellow inmates letters and photos he claimed were sent by besotted women on the outside, which reportedly wound them up and led to him being attacked.

A source at the Category B prison told the Daily Star in 2013: "He's put up a load of pictures of that blonde girl he killed, saying he loves her and he would never hurt her. Just before Christmas when he worked in the kitchen he started to bring in letters he said were fan mail. There were photos, too, of older women he said were fans who believed he was innocent."

Turner's boasts reportedly led to him being attacked in his cell and he was forced to move to another wing. The source added: "Turner is a gobby little pr*ck who has had it coming for some time. Even when on remand he was bragging that he would be cleared. He still goes around protesting his innocence, telling people he'll be out soon."

At the time, a Prison Service spokesperson told the Daily Echo: "Two prisoners from HMP Swaleside have been disciplined for their roles in a minor incident". They added: "There was no cell fire". That same year, Turner lost his murder appeal and judges ruled that he would continue his life sentence. It is unknown where Turner is now serving his sentence, and he will not be eligible for parole before 2028.
