Television presenter Craig Doyle has proved to be a welcome addition to the This Morning family since 2022, and this week, he returns to the ITV sofa to co-host alongside Cat Deeley and Alison Hammond. The Irish star has been a fan favourite among viewers in recent times and has made quite an impression on bosses.

It comes as his co-presenter, 'seasoned pro' Cat, is rumoured to replace Holly Willoughby on the show, while producers are still hunting for Phillip Schofield 's permanent replacement. But who exactly is Craig? Here, we take a look at the 52-year-old's life away from cameras, including his sweet romance and 'real age' that shocked fans.

The Dublin-born presenter has been working in TV for quite some time, and is best known in Ireland for hosting an array of shows on Irish Network channel RTÉ, as well as his other work commitments with channels including BBC, ITV, and BT Sport. Craig even had his own chat show on RTÉ One back in 2010, called Tonight with Craig Doyle, as well as RTÉ Two's Craig Doyle Live, which ran from 2011 to 2013.

After the show ended, Craig became the lead anchor for BT Sport's rugby coverage, including Premiership and European Champions Cup games. He also hosted their MotoGP programming from 2015 to 2018. And he's played a key part in covering the Six Nations Rugby, Wimbledon, Athens Olympics and Grandstand.

Craig appeared on children's programme Diggit on GMTV alongside Fearne Cotton and Reggie Yates from 1998 to 2002. Last year, he made his debut presenting This Morning's regular competition slots. Since then, he has been a regular on the show, hosting alongside Josie Gibson and Mollie King.

Craig previously opened up about how 'grateful' he feels for the opportunity to present the programme. He told The Times : "I love doing the This Morning show. It's great fun and I feel so grateful at this stage in my career to get an opportunity to do a show this size. Given that I'm on my second or third lap of this industry, to get an opportunity like this is fantastic."

Shocking real age

Fans were left in disbelief when they discovered Craig's real age as he joined This Morning last year. Viewers couldn't quite believe it when they found out the Irish star is actually in his fifties. One curious fan took to Twitter in August 2022 to share their disbelief, writing: "So I Googled Craig. That man is never 51!"

Another quipped: "I don't know who this fella is but Google tells me he's 51! Gonna need your skincare regime please Mr Doyle", while a third joked that Craig, who is now 52, hasn't aged in 25 years. "What the hell is going on? How is this man in his 50s? He literally hasn't aged a day in 25 years. He's very easy on the eyes as well," they tweeted.

Craig married his long-term partner Doon in December 2001 and the loved-up couple share four children together - Quin, Muireann, Milo and Elsa. The family live just outside Dublin in County Wicklow. The former interior designer was working part-time in a gym when she first laid eyes on her future husband.

Speaking to RTÉ about how they met, Craig previously revealed: "I was home in Ireland just before I started on Tomorrow's World and a mate of mine said to me 'Doyler! Ya gotta meet this bird. I tried my heart out with her but it isn't happening'. She was working in the gym part-time before she started college and I went along to the gym.

"I didn't even have gym gear with me. I had a pair of shorts and a pair of shoes, I looked like a kn*b and I met her and I thought 'Holy God'. We were on our third date, the kissing date, and we were in Greystones and we had a drink and we were out walking and as I left, I shook her hand. Complete nerd. She looked at me like I was a real tw*t and said 'That was the kissing date. Why didn't you kiss me?' I was scared. I fancied her you see.”

Despite Craig's initial awkwardness, he managed to steal Doon's heart and in January 2022, the lovebirds celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. Speaking to Belfast Telegraph about their family, Craig previously explained he would love to have 'loads' of kids. "I'd have a whole bundle if it were up to me - I love kids," he said. "Doon's full-time with them. She keeps the ship rolling - she's amazing. I go to work but I'm really only doing my hobby. She has a hell of a lot more patience than me."
