It has been denied that James Argent has had his concerned friends rally found him after his heartbreaking split from his 19-year-old girlfriend and that he is instead "very happy" and won't be going back to his 'old ways'.

The TOWIE star split from his girlfriend Stella Turian last week despite recently saying marriage was on the cards. The Italian law student and the 35-year-old are said to have struggled with the long distance which is ultimately what led to them calling time on their romance.

It has been claimed that the TV star's friends are now rallying round him to check he is okay, but this has since been denied. The Mirror has been told by a source: "James is single and still very happy and isn't rushing into another relationship."

It's said there is no hard feelings between the former couple but ex-girlfriend Lydia Bright and her mum Debbie were reported to be concerned he may go back to his "old ways". Arg has been open in the past about going through drug and alcohol addictions, suffering from two drug overdoses in 2020.

new! mag reported that a source said: "Lydia and Debbie are obviously very concerned and rallying around him. He's been back on track for a while now, but when something bad happens, he can go back to his old ways. He's been through so much, and they're worried he might turn to old habits after doing so well." However, these claims have been denied by a source close to the TOWIE star.

Lydia and Arg first got together back in 2008 and were in an on-off relationship until 2016 but the pair split when he had relapsed. However, they have now gone on to become friends.

Arg has previously admitted that despite being sober, there is also a risk of relapsing. He said: "I have been through a hell of a lot, and it's taken a lot to get to the place where I am now. There are days where I still struggle and feel down, but how I have the tools to use when I'm going through a difficult time."

Things appeared to be heating up between Arg and Stella as they travelled to the likes of Venice, Verona and Lake Garda together but sources close to the star say he has been left heartbroken as things suddenly crumbled. James, despite being devastated by previous failed romances, managed to make things work despite being in a long-distance relationship.

A source told MailOnline: "Throughout the summer it became increasingly difficult for them to meet up due to their work commitments. There are no hard feelings between them, they still follow each other on Instagram, and James is even invited to come out to ski with Stella and her family early next year.

"They made lasting memories, travelling around the most romantic parts of Italy together and Stella visited London for the first time to see James, but for now they have mutually agreed that their relationship is over."

Arg previously spoke warmly about his relationship with Stella, sharing how he's managed to woo her with romantic movie night dates. He said she looked like a "young Sophia Loren or Monica Bellucc" and that she thought he was an "English Michael Bublé" when they first met.
