Meghan's wild 'single girl summer' after posting wedding ring to ex husband

Meghan Markle became a global name following her wedding to Prince Harry. But the former Suits star was married once before, to producer Trevor Engleson, before it all came crashing down, leaving him heartbroken.

Meghan and Trevor dated for seven years before tying the knot on 10 September, 2011. But within two years, they had split and were divorced by August 2013, with Meghan and Trevor citing "irreconcilable differences".

It was speculated that Meghan's role in Suits was a catalyst for their break-up. The TV star was required to spend long periods of time in Toronto, where Suits was filmed, while Trevor lived in LA.

But many stated that Trevor was completely blindsided by their split - and even contacted mutual friends to find out what he had done wrong. It was further reported that Meghan had returned her wedding and engagement rings to him by post. Following their split - and just before she met Prince Harry in 2016 - Meghan enjoyed what friend Lucy Fraser described as a "single girl summer".

The Duchess herself spoke about that time on Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan, saying: "I had a career, I had my life, I had my path… then came H." She added: "Talk about a plot twist." A series of photos were also included in the show, offering candid glimpses into Meghan's summer as a single woman. She spent time travelling around Europe with some girlfriends, with pictures showing them toasting with glasses of red wine, soaking up the sunset in a bikini, jumping into the ocean and posing on a hotel bed.

Meghan's first date with Prince Harry took place in 2016 at Soho House's Dean Street Townhouse London. But prior to that, they 'met' on Instagram. Harry later recalled on the show: "Meghan and I met over Instagram. I was scrolling through my feed and someone who was a friend had this video of the two of them, it was like a Snapchat…" Meghan interjected: "Oh gosh, isn't that whole thing it's got like doggy filters, and that's what he saw of me." Harry agreed: "That was the first thing, I was like: 'Who is that?'"

"It's ridiculous," Meghan added. "And then she sent [their friend] me an email saying 'I know you said you're single and, a friend of mine asked about you, and maybe you'd like to meet him. And I said 'really who is it?' And she said: 'It's Prince Haz.' And I said: 'Who's that?'.

"I asked if I could see his feed. So that's the thing when people say did you google him, no, but that's your homework, let me see what they're about in their feed, let me see what they're saying about them not what someone else says about them but what they are putting out about themselves. That to me was the best barometer."
