A couple who have become renowned for their Christmas and Remembrance Day lights displays have really pushed out the boat by spending thousands of pounds this year.

Jackie North and husband Sean, both 37, first decorated their home to mark Armistice Day in 2022 – and decided to go bigger and better this year by coughing up £8,000 decorating their house in 12,000 lights – for a traffic-stopping spectacular.

And they have posted a TikTok video of the stunning display where the property in Keelby, Lincs, is now decorated with 12,000 lights and two giant poppies. Jackie turned on the lights on Tuesday – and said the street has been filled with traffic and people wanting to pay their respects ever since.

The school kitchen assistant said: "We did Remembrance last year but we didn't have anywhere near as many lights. We had a poppy on the tree and in front of the garage with some lights. This year we have doubled our show to make it a lot nicer – we love lights so we keep adding more."

The pair say they spent £8,000 on their Remembrance display. But she says it is worth it because everyone thinks they are "beautiful". Jackie said: "We wanted to pay our respects in our own way. It is really important we remember, we are here because of what the older generation did for us. Everyone loves the lights, we have had quite a few visitors last night – there has been a lot of traffic."

According to Grimsby Live, Jackie and her family have also been hosting their own winter wonderland events for the last two years after being inspired while on holiday in Florida. Ever since, the family's house has become a bit of a hub for holiday celebrations.

The family collected for When You Wish Upon A Star last year as they believe that "Christmas is all about the children". Half of the proceedings went towards Keelby Park as the local parish council had announced they were looking to spruce up the local field. Jackie said at the time: "I thought it would be a great idea to use our Christmas lights to help the local community."

The family raised a total of £2,900 at their main switch-on event last year with a further £200 donated by people passing by the family's house. "Last year, we only made about £2,700 through the whole month, so to get this amount already is absolutely amazing," she said.
