Hannah Waddingham's agent has reportedly been approached by This Morning bosses for a regular hosting slot.

The Ted Lasso star, 49, has been catapulted to superstardom since appearing in the hit Apple+ series, alongside Jason Sudeikis and Brett Goldstein, a role which also landed her a coveted Emmy Award in 2021. She also co-hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool back in May, and can currently be seen in the M&S Christmas advert, as well as the festive Bailey’s commercial.

Hannah has taken her meteoric rise to fame in her stride, and the mum-of-one, who shares a daughter with her hotelier ex, Gianluca Cugnetto, has been on the radar of This Morning bosses after Holly Willoughby’s shock departure in October. According to The Sun, the Game of Thrones star’s agent has been “formally approached by ITV” over the possibility of appearing on the ITV daytime show as a regular presenter.

“Hannah is a huge Hollywood star and would, of course, be welcome on the This Morning sofa,” an ITV insider revealed. “Some conversations with her team were had in the summer to see what her availability might be. But since then, she’s obviously become even more in demand so, realistically, will not replace Holly Willoughby in the new year.”

Ever since Holly departed This Morning in October, viewers have been speculating who would become her permanent replacement. The show has had a rough few months, with Phillip Schofield quitting earlier this year amid a scandal involving his affair with a This Morning employee, and now Holly has bid farewell to the sofa.

Bosses were forced to give the presenting line-up a rethink after the two biggest daytime TV stars quit the popular show, and now Cat Deeley has been announced as one of the regular co-hosts, along with Ryaln Clark. On Monday and Tuesday, Cat will host with Rylan, and on Wednesday, she’ll host with Craig Doyle. Alison Hammond will be presenting alongside Craig on Thursday, and she’ll be back with her regular co-host Dermot O'Leary for their usual Friday shift together.

Last month, mum-of-three Holly sadly announced she would not be returning to This Morning in a decision she said she made “for me and my family”. In a lengthy and emotional statement, the 42-year-old said: “This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together. Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive.

“To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you. Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You’ve been so loyal, so supportive and the very best company every day. Richard and Judy said ‘we only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers’. It’s been an honour to just be part of its story and I know this story has many chapters left to go. Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family. I will miss you all so much. Holly,” she concluded.

The Mirror has contacted Hannah's representatives for comment on this story.
