Brick fans can meet Mr Christmas at Legoland

Festive Lego fans can meet the big man at the brick themed park this Christmas.

Legoland Windsor is celebrating the most wonderful time of the year with a merry themed run of days from 25 November 2023 to 3 January 2024. The resort will transform into a winter wonderland, complete with twinkling lights, snow-dusted trees and a gigantic 10-metre-tall Duplo brick Christmas tree, featuring colourful decorations.

Legoland at Christmas will see Father Christmas make his long-awaited return to the park as he travels around on the back of his magical sleigh accompanied by his elves. Guests can take in the festive cheer as the parade winds through Heartlake City all the way to Pirate Shores. Whether you're young, or just young at heart, the Father Christmas Parade is sure to fill your visit with joy and laughter.

Once you've been topped up with merriment, you can become mesmerised by The Merry Mistletones singing Christmas carols in the park before heading down for some seasonal mirth with the classic pantomime story Little Red Riding Hood, in a Duplo Valley puppet show staring the beloved fairytale characters.

The festive themed days run until early January

The performance will bring Little Red Riding Hood and Grandma to life for little ones and will run alongside the return of the live show Ollie’s Christmas Chaos in Miniland. For families who don’t wish to visit Father Christmas, there are theme park only tickets available from £34 per person or free with an Annual Pass with little ones under 90cm also gaining free entry.

Guests can add a meeting with Father Christmas for one child and one adult which includes a Lego gift for an additional £20. These can be pre-booked online in advance only at the Legoland website.

Families looking to create even more magical memories can stay overnight with a ‘Festive Sleepover’ in one of the Resort’s Lego themed hotels, right on the edge of the park. Guests are treated to extra activities and entertainment to enjoy including fun and games with the Legoland elves, Ollie’s Winter Tale story time and Elf Pyjama Party.

Packages start are from £425 at the Legoland Hotel, based on two adults and two children sharing a room with breakfast and including theme park access to the festive park.

If you like the idea of visiting a theme park this Christmas, but don't fancy Legoland or the price tag, then Efteling in the Netherlands may be worth a visit. A British TikTok creator recently gave an insight into what could be a "cheaper" alternative to Disneyland based on her family's experience at the park. Thetravelmum took to the social media platform to share her review of the park.

In her video the Brit mum offers a rundown of the park's best bits, which include some seriously impressive rollercoasters for thrill seekers, themed zones that have a similarly fairytale feel to its Mickey Mouse counterpart, and some gentler rides for the younger audiences.

"We have been told this theme park is better and cheaper than Disneyland, let's go and check it out. Efteling is a theme park in the Netherlands and with no queue to get in, tickets starting at just £34, and these cool little trolleys that you can pull bigger kids around in, I'm already impressed," Thetravelmum said. "As you walk around, there's all the magic and attention to detail that you get from a Disney park."

The video creator also praised the short queue times in the park, which compared favourably to Disneyland - where the more popular rides can attract queues of up to two hours on a busy day.

"This park is huge, there's a great app you can download and as you can see, the majority of queue times are less than 10 minutes. There are some amazing indoor rides which absolutely blew Leo away. There's a fairytale forest where we spent two whole hours exploring," the mum continued. "The good thing bout this park is there's also a lot of bigger rides for adults and big kids. There are tons of themed restaurants and all the food we had was delicious and really well priced."
