Kenan & Kel star Kel Mitchell hospitalised ahead of Good Burger 2 release

Actor Kel Mitchell is currently receiving treatment after being hospitalised.

The star was rushed to the a Los Angeles emergency room for an unknown cause on Tuesday. A witness told TMZ that Kel was conscious when he arrived. As of Wednesday, Kel remains in the hospital and there is no information surrounding potential discharge.

Despite the health scare, his social media remains active, but the posts appear to be promotional and preplanned in nature. The account posted information about Hollywood Squares and the soon-to-be released Good Burger 2. Whether or not these posts indicate that Kel is in good health is unknown.

However, one post does not seem to be promotional and potentially could have been posted by himself. He added to his story a video that said in text: "Pastor Mike Todd producing [ fire ] beats while preaching."

In the past, Kel opened up about his mental health issues and struggles with drugs. After the shows that propelled him into fame were cancelled, Kel explained, he found himself in a dark place. He told PEOPLE : "As a young actor there are ups and downs. And when you get to that down part, there are times you feel like no on can relate to you. When Britney Spears shaved her head, I understood that."

With is first wife, Kel had two kids — Lyric and Allure. Now, he is remarried to Asia Lee and, in recent years, appeared to be healthy.

Kel further sank into depression following a divorce from ex-wife Tyisha Hampton. Eventually, he felt his life turned around when he devoted himself to his religion. He explained: "Before, it was just about me, but now it is more about Christ. That’s when things started to turn around in my life. I went through a rough time, but now I have peace.”

Fans adore Kel for his iconic place in 90s comedy, including on the Nickelodeon series All That and Kenan & Kel with comedian Kenan Thompson. The duo went on to be the leads in Good Burger which is set to have a sequel released in a matter of weeks.
