Woman 'left gagging' after seeing how dirty her dishwasher really was

When it comes to household appliances, a dishwasher is one that can make life much easier and save time on the dreaded washing up.

However, one woman started to notice that her dishes wouldn't be as clean as she'd hoped when taking them out of the dishwasher - only for her to realise that there was a specific compartment in her dishwasher that she needed to keep clean.

She wondered why her dishwasher would let her down after every wash - only to realise she had to keep it clean inside in order for it to keep her dishes clean, and "gagged" when she saw the insides of the filter.

The US-based TikToker who goes by the name beannina4 explained how her plates would still be dirty no matter how many times she'd put them through the washer - only to realise it wasn't actually the dishwasher that was at fault. She realised she had to deep clean her appliance to keep it working correctly.

Taking to TikTok to reveal her discovery she said: "Am I the only one who never knew we were supposed to be deep cleaning our dishwashers?" She pulled out the filter from her dishwasher revealing it covered in dirt and added: "This is what I found. It was so disgusting, every time I think about the fact that I was washing my dishes in this, it literally makes me gag."

"I never even knew that this filter was a thing or that we were supposed to be deep cleaning it monthly," she admitted and wondered if the renters in her apartment before her had ever cleaned the filter either. She then took the opportunity to share how she now cleans her appliance, informing her followers of her new cleaning routine.

Now she admits her dishwasher is "running a million times better" and that it "smells so much cleaner", Bean highlights that she will soak the filter in hot water and soap and use a small scrubbing brush to clean it. Then she uses white vinegar and baking soda to clean the inside of the washer.

Also adding that she will fill a container with white vinegar and put it in the dishwasher too and run a cycle to clean the insides - reminding people "don't forget to clean your dishwasher" and does this once a month.

One TikTok user admitted they never knew this either and wrote: "Raise your hand if you've never done this before," while another shared: "I did not know this either. I was having chronic stomach aches, discovered it one day it was disgusting. Cleaning it often my stomach aches are gone!"
