Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen breaks silence with 'horrible' update

Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen has shared a “pretty horrible” update from Ravenseat Farm.

The 49-year-old, who is better known as the Yorkshire Shepherdess, took to Instagram for the first time in weeks to reveal how the family had been affected by the recent Storm Ciaran, which brought winds of up to 100mph across the UK, causing trees to fall, power outages and severe flooding in parts of the country.

But although the weather has been terrible, the mum-of-nine said her family had to brave the elements and “batten down the hatches” as there was still plenty of work to do on their farm in Upper Swaledale in North Yorkshire. She wrote: “Been some pretty horrible weather #stormciaran. Had to batten down the hatches but the rain doesn’t stop work (& play). Sure as eggs is eggs.” Alongside the post – her first since October 6 – Amanda shared photos of two of her daughters collecting eggs.

In another photo gallery, the kids were shown mucking in to help with the horses and odd jobs around the farm. But they still managed to find some time to play amongst the trees and have cuddles with their pet dog. “Been raining cats and dogs. A whole week of rain, wind and plenty of mud #yorkshire #weather #farm #raining,” Amanda told her 535,000 followers.

Fans who haven’t heard from the family in a while welcomed the new pictures, with one commenting: “So missed the Yorkshire Shepherdess and family.” Another wrote: “I really miss your TV show!” A third said: “Miss all your lovely faces keeping things real on the farm. I hope you and your family are well.” “Bet it’s been brutal up there in the bad weather,” a fourth follower chimed in. A fifth said: “Lovely to see girls and farm again, but terrible weather!!” While sixth joked: “As us Yorkshire folk say, it’s just big coat weather.”

Our Yorkshire Farm was cancelled by Channel 5 in December 2022 following a shake-up to the TV schedule. It coincided with Amanda's split from husband Clive, 69, following 21 years of marriage.

Taking to Instagram at the time, Amanda penned: “Clive and I are sad to confirm that we have made the difficult decision to separate. This hasn’t been easy, but we both believe it’s the right choice for the future of our family. Although we are no longer a couple, we continue to work on the farm and co-parent together, with our number one priority the happiness and well-being of our children.”

Although the couple are no longer an item, they are set to make a TV comeback and appear alongside eldest son Reuben on new Channel 4 show Our Farm Next Door. It will follow the trio as they renovate the farmhouse they purchased during the last series of Our Yorkshire Farm. Filming has reportedly already started and it is set to air sometime next year.

It comes after Amanda reportedly feared the end of her successful TV career after it was unveiled she allegedly had a five year affair with 71-year-old web designer Robert Davies, who she is still thought to be involved with.

The Sun reported a source said: “Amanda’s ego has taken a battering. Her popularity fell off a cliff after the affair was exposed. She knows the only way for her to get back on TV — and for it to be successful — is for Clive to be involved and for them to put up a united front.“

Prior to this, Amanda’s ex Clive had taken full responsibility for their split, saying: “It was such a change in our lives [the TV show] and I sadly made a right mess of things basically. I had a massive part to play in the relationship ending. A massive part to play. I was ranting and raving and drinking and carrying on. I don't know – jealousy.”
