Could Harry Styles be the next James Bond - and sing his own theme tune?

“Nothing is off the table,” according to the franchise’s composer, David Arnold, who has written classic Bond hits including The World is Not Enough. As James Bond prepares modernise and target to a younger audience, names touted to replace Daniel Craig as the next 007 include the hotly tipped Aaron Taylor-Johnson but also singers who act, including Harry.

With the films veering in a different direction, some thing the One Direction heartthrob - who has previously starred in Hollywood blockbusters Dunkirk and Don’t Worry Darling - could be the perfect man for both jobs.

“Could someone who sings it be in the movie? I don’t see why not,” says David, who has most recently worked with Bond chief Barbara Broccoli on Amazon’s 007 reality series.

“Why would anything be off the table? Daniel was in the title sequences in a storytelling way - that was something that never really used to happen. These things develop - and should develop.”

He adds of selecting the next spy: “I know that they are heads down, thinking about it really seriously. I’m trusting their judgment inherently.”

David, who was music director of the Olympics Closing Ceremony in 2012, is taking his vast collection of hits on the road as part of his own tour for the first time, where he will perform some tracks written for Bond that have never been played live before.

And there’s only one way to get into the spirit, really. “It’s very embarrassing, but a vodka martini is my favourite cocktail,” he laugh. “You’ve either got to start or finish with it.”

Or go full Bond and do both.

  • David Arnold’s The Songs: Live’ UK tour begins on 19th November. For tickets: AEGPresents.co.uk.
