The slogan for StylPro's brand new Flip 'n' Charge Power Bank LED Mirror is "Brighten your look, charge your life!" and I must admit, upon trying it out soon after its release, it seems to full embody it and more. The £29.99 device is essentially a compact mirror that has a built in ring light and doubles up as a charger for all your gadgets, which when you're a busy woman on the go, is a pretty impressive combination.

Now, when I think about a charger, personally I think: bulky, heavy (if it's a charging power bank), a bit of a nuisance to carry around in your bag on a day to day basis. But this mirror is cute and dainty. I mean, it's not as dainty as a flat £1 compact mirror from the likes of Primark, but it's pretty small. Small enough to fit in a bagette handbag. Which is a bit of a winner.

The design is clean and really quite elegant being white and silver and opening it up you get two mirrors - one more zoomed in, the other standard; the latter having the ring light around it.

The ring light is bright and can be brightened or dimmed to your liking, meaning that depending on how bright your room is, you can still touch up your make up and it won't look like you've done it in the dark.

As for the charger, I must admit I was confused when I first tried to use it.

I charged the mirror with the USB provided and waited for it to shine bright with four blue dots, as is instructed, which it soon did. However, as someone who whose charging lead has a USB-C port, I hit a bit of a snag. I plugged my USB-C charger into the C-port and I expected my phone and the charger to, well, jump into action and start charging. But nothing happened. I read the instructions and tried a different lead - still with a C-port as that's all my house seemed to have - but the same again. Nothing. I thought I had a faulty mirror.

I re-read the instructions which said this C-port was the charging port and so I thought, once again: it must be faulty. So I went in search for a standard USB port.

I searched high and low and eventually found one for my partner's battery pack. Although it wasn't one for a phone, I thought: 'It's a gadget - it'll do.'

As I plugged the USB into the mirror, the neon blue charging lights jolted into existence and shone bright: the power bank began charging. Thank goodness.

After about two and a half hours, the charging part of the mirror had been reduced to one light, meaning it was on its last power legs, but it had charged the power bank from one per cent to 95 per cent in just a few hours. I was impressed and, on the move, this will help a lot when you're having to rush from the office to the pub for Thirsty Thursdays and don't have a chance to go home, get yourself a smidge more glam and charge your phone.

The light doesn't work, or it didn't for me anyway, when the mirror was being used as a charger but it shines just as bright when the charging is over.

The only downside to this double-whammy of a mirror is that for someone who has a lead that needs a USB-C port for their phone, it's a bit useless as a charging device (maybe I'll have to invest in a standard lead) but as a mirror for on the go? It's fabulous. And I can see I'm going to get a lot of use out of it, especially this Christmas season. Even more so if I get myself a USB-B lead...

While this gadget is pretty unique, there are a few competitors on the market that could give it a run for its money.

Fancii Mila Rechargeable LED Compact White Mirror from Sephora is £36, while this £18 power bank with LED mirror on Amazon has been described as "Perfect for your handbag". GloBrite's Power Bank Mirror is available on Etsy also for £49.99.

StylPro's gadget, however, retails for £20 less and is a great little tool to have in your bag at all times - you never know when you may need some power. It can be bought on StylPro's website, LOOKFANTASTIC, Superdrug and ASOS.
