Second FENTY x PUMA collection of the season arrives
There's now just hours to go until the new footwear range from FENTY x PUMA drops.
Creatively directed by music icon Rihanna, FENTY X PUMA began life way back in 2015 with a series of trainers and this year has seen the superstar move back into footwear with the Avanti drops. The brand has had success in the past with other footwear for PUMA including a creeper based shoe as well as more conventional trainers but this autumn has seen two separate launches.
It was only back in September of this year that Rihanna debuted The Avanti. At the time, Rihanna explained how it was her love of football along with the sports’ major influence off the pitch that ignited for the footwear franchise, as well as giving the AVANTI its signature look.
The last drop of the AVANTI shoe came in classic black and white, and a rather arresting allover silver chrome. However, from tomorrow, Friday November 2, they now will be available in two new colourways, Dark Myrtle and Club Navy, and they will be on sale in unisex, kids and toddlers sizes.
The global icon known for mega hits such as 'Umbrella', 'We Found Love' and 'Diamonds' has reimagined a classic style from PUMA’s archives to come up with the shoe. It's said to be inspired by vintage looks resulting in a hybrid that fuses PUMA's iconic King football boot and their Easy Rider running shoe to create something that is a unique take on football and fashion.
Rihanna 'set to announce huge comeback tour and new music' after Super Bowl gigPuma say: "FENTY x PUMA presents the Avanti, worn by legends and reborn by Rihanna. This classic silhouette was taken from the PUMA archives and reimagined by Rihanna through her own personal design language and creative treatment."
Rihanna has largely been out of the public eye since her last album, Anti, was launched in 2016. Since then the mother of two has been focusing on FENTY, but did make a brief and successful comeback earlier this year when she took on the half-time show at Super Bowl LVII.
Collobs between artists and brands is nothing new with Nike joining forces with hip-hop star Drake for his NOCTA range over the past few years. PUMA also has history collaborating and branching out into music in the past with a notable team-up being the range the brand did with British superstar Dua Lipa in 2022.
Speaking to British Vogue in September about the early autumn launch, Rhianna said: “There is so much history and legacy here, and I wanted to honour that by paying tribute to the Avanti. [The King is] the shoe Pelé played in and made very famous, and I know people are looking forward to their return.”
Prices for the new shoes range from £65-£140 depending on what size you opt for. You can explore the collection and sign up for more FENTY x PUMA information here.
