Matthew Perry 's mental state in the final day before his sudden death has been revealed by the mystery woman he had dinner with 24 hours prior.

The former Friends star sat down with the brunette, who has now been revealed as 25-year-old model Athenna Crosby, at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, California on October 27. Other diners at the joint said the duo were sat together for an hour and a half before leaving together.

Despite speculation arising over whether or not Matthew and Athenna were in a romantic situation, the model and reporter has now urged that they were not. She told the publication that they were just friends and met through a mutual friend a few months ago.

Athenna also said that the Chandler Bing star was in "extremely good spirits" when they had lunch together, with him chatting "enthusiastically about the things that he had coming up in his life". She noted that he was "so happy and vibrant".

The actor from one of the most popular sitcoms of all time tragically passed away on Saturday due to an apparent drowning in a hot tub or jacuzzi. Law enforcement sources told the news site that prescription drugs were found in his home, reporting that authorities “found antidepressants, anti-anxiety drugs and a COPD drug in the house”.

The model and entertainment reporter told social media that she "had the honour of knowing Matthew personally". Athenna also penned a touching statement following his death in which she spoke about being "devastated".

"I am so devastated from his death but felt it was in poor taste to talk about it publicly as the attention should not be on me but rather on him and his legacy and he was an extremely private person and I always respected that in our friendship," she wrote.

Athenna opened up about Matthew's last hours and shared that he was "really into Batman" and went as far as calling himself "Mattman" and calling his car a "Batmobile." Based on Matthew's Batman-inspired posts, some fans believe he was attempting to call for help in his last few days, but she has debunked the conspiracy.

She told the publication that he was a "playful guy in the months she knew him" and "the conspiracy theory he was pushing subliminal messages about his safety by using the superhero reference is way off." Athena explained that his "Mattman" posts were simply him "being a nerd" and added that fans are getting carried away.
