The Big Brother housemates are being so disruptive at nighttime, that a lack of sleep caused a contestant with MS to lose vision in one eye.

This week’s shock evictee Kerry, 40, had complained about the younger housemates being disrespectful and having loud, drunken pillow fights until 4am while she tried to sleep, and now reveals it worsened her condition. Twenty-somethings Olivia, Paul and Tom also pranked her while she slept by covering her in lettuce.

But Kerry, who uses a mobility scooter to help cope with her condition, refused to contact Big Brother to request private sleeping arrangements for fear of being labelled “the disabled contestant”, even though walking around the house using a stick at times felt like “walking through treacle”.

Yet the disrupted sleep worsened her symptoms, and she was secretly battling a flare-up of her optic neuritis. “I went to the Diary Room one lunchtime because I lost a bit of vision in my left eye - a bit of blurred vision,” she says. “It was one of my first symptoms when I got diagnosed with MS.”

She says she was relieved to discover she would be leaving the house, and after 24 hours of resting while in hiding before her eviction was revealed, she has already managed to recover fully. “I really struggled,” she says of her time in the house. “I could hear my MS nurse saying: ‘Listen to your body and rest when you need to.’ I massively underestimated the sleep part of it. Massively.

“I didn’t want to be treated differently. I wanted that authentic experience. I didn’t want to be ‘the disabled one’ that couldn’t get involved.” Kerry was up against Dylan and Olivia during the shock nominations with Noky and Trish choosing their fate in the middle of the night.

After being dealt the shattering news that she was being sent home, the NHS manager who previously claimed to be in the higher tax bracket was asked to step into a coffin in order to be taken out of the house. Without being given the chance to say her goodbyes to her fellow housemates, she told the cameras: "Listen, I'm so ready [to leave]!"

But the decision to kick her out via the backdoor didn't go down too well with fans at home who instantly flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter to share their frustrations.

* Big Brother continues Thursday night at 9pm on ITV2 .
