Finding a pair of jeans that fit well can be a nightmare. Thankfully, there's a simple trick you can use to adjust trousers that are loose around the middle without needing to sew the waistband.

While sewing is a perfectly good option for anyone comfortable using a needle and thread, it's not the simplest option going. However, thanks to this popular hack making the rounds on TikTok, anyone can fashion an adjustable waistband for their clothes, meaning you can also change the fit of your jeans whenever you like.

'What's this magical recommendation?' you ask. Well, Paola - who goes by @pxgon on TikTok - has the answer, and it might just be the easiest alteration ever.

Posting to TikTok, the sustainable fashion guru explained how you can make an adjustable waistband for any pair of jeans - and provided a helpful demonstration.

Recommending the tip, Paola said: "I'm legitimately going to put you on game and give you the best life hack ever." She added that everyone can use the trick, before sharing instructions.

To add the waistband, carefully use a sharp blade to cut small holes on the inside layer of any oversized jeans. Take care to only push the blade through the first later of fabric, as you make one incision near the button and one near the button hole. Cut two more holes further along the waistband. Paola recommends placing these next to the seam found by the tab most jeans feature.

Finally, loop a shoe string through a safety pin, and use this to pull the string through the channels you made.

"Start at the first hole, which is the buttonhole. Then you're going to run that all the way through to the next hole next to the tab. You're going to run that outside to then run it inside of the following hole, next to the tab. You want to run that all the way inside that channel again next to the buttonhole," she explains, and voila: you should now have an adjustable waistband.

Simply pull and tie the strings as tight as you would like and you can go on your merry way. Delighted by the advice, viewers were quick to thank the fashion fan.

One commenter said: "Omg ty for this i have at least 2 pairs of jeans i can't wear because they're too loose around the waist."

Someone else revealed: "I do this w elastic & it makes any pair of pants fit perfectly!"

Another wrote: "HOW have i not thought of this before this is SO SMART OMG" and Paola replied: "Yesssss it's the best fashion hack ever."
