Marcus Rashford partied at a Manchester night club late into Sunday night, hours after his side were well beaten in the Manchester derby.

The forward was unable to stop Manchester United falling to a fifth defeat in 10 Premier League games as they were outclassed by rivals Manchester City. Rashford himself struggled to impose himself on the contest and then attended the well known nightspot Chinawhite.

The England international was out past midnight but still reported on time for training on Monday night, as first reported by The Telegraph. Rashford's night out was understood to be a pre-arranged celebration, but it is still unlikely to go down well with United's frustrated fans and potentially Ten Hag.

United are thought to have been unaware about Rashford's Sunday night plans, although there is no requirement for players to inform the club of social engagements of that nature. The party ran until 3.30am but it's unknown if Rashford was in attendance that late.

Erik ten Hag has been keen to insert standards and discipline since arriving in Manchester and his reaction remains unknown. Ten Hag is already dealing with a situation with one England star in Jadon Sancho, whose future at the club is in serious question.

United are in a poor run of form while Rashford, who scored 30 times in all competitions last term, has struggled this season and has only found the net on one occasion in 13 appearances. His late night antics are unlikely to be well received by the manager, who is already dealing with individual cases like Jadon Sancho.

United's defeat to City means they are already eight points off the top four at this early stage of the season. Ten Hag led the club to third in his debut year and progression was expected after another summer of investment, but the team have instead notably declined.

Ten Hag has backed Rashford to rediscover his best form with the player previously performing in waves. He dropped off massively late in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's reign but produced his best once again last term and the Dutchman believes he will fire on all cylinders again.

Recently he said: "Everyone knows the qualities of him. But if the team is doing the right things, putting him in the right places and we've seen him coming in the right positions, but he's struggling, it will pass. Everyone at Manchester United backs him.

"The team supports and believes in him. I'm sure with that confidence of the team behind him this will change, it will pass. Strikers when they don't score, they need one goal and they step over it. It will come - he is so experienced. He knows when he and the team are doing the right things, the momentum will come and he'll be on fire."
