I'm a travel writer and these are the suitcases I'd recommend on Black Friday

If you are dreaming of your next getaway, snapping up some super cheap luggage on Black Friday could leave you with more cash to spend on cocktails on the beach.

As the pre-Christmas sales frenzy fast approaches, many luggage brands are gearing up to offer big discounts. From cabin bags to extra large suitcases, some brands represent better value for money than others with higher build quality and additional features.

Black Friday falls on November, 24 this year with Cyber Monday following close behind on November, 27. Before the big day, I've rounded up some of the best brands to watch as the prices drop.

Finding your favourite piece of luggage is as individual as you are, but you should also opt for a suitcase that combines convenience, practicality and state-of-the-art features ahead of fashionable good looks.

With not long to go until the sales start, I've rounded up some of my favourites.

Samsonite

When it comes to Black Friday, Samsonite has been known to offer some incredible discounts, with the 2022 event seeing as much as 30% off selected pieces. This year, shoppers should expect to see a similar range of incentives across the range, and they may also offer flash sales on backpacks, luggage sets and other items.

Antler

The Antler Clifton range is a popular choice with discerning travellers (Antler)

The British luggage icon has been creating incredible collections since 1914. Considered to be a luxury brand by many, Antler manufactures top-quality cases that have been redesigned for the modern traveller.

With its instantly recognisable stag logo and subtle features including a twist-grip handle for extra ease and comfort, TSA locks, expandable capacity and a lifetime warranty, an Antler suitcase is an investment to be proud of.

Last year, Antler offered up to 40% off selected lines, including reductions on some of their best sellers including the Clifton suitcase range and the Chelsea overnight bag.

I love the upscale look and feel of Antler luggage, and the Clifton range manages to perfectly combine practicality with fashionable good looks.

If you can't wait until Black Friday, there are currently discounts to be found on selected ranges on the Antler website in their Special Prices collection, and retailers including Amazon, John Lewis and eBay are also expected to offer reduced on Antler luggage for Black Friday.

American Tourister

I'm thinking of treating myself to the AT Novastream for Black Friday (American Tourister)

Offering a large collection of mid-range pieces, American Tourister suitcases are some of my absolute favourites. I've had one that has travelled with me over many thousands of miles, and it's still as brilliant as it was when I bought it.

On Black Friday 2022, there were lots of great deals to be found on American Tourister cases with Amazon offering as much as 45% off selected models.

Made from high-quality yet lightweight materials, American Tourister cases come in a wide range of colours and designs, and while my favourite model is no longer sold by the brand, I have my eye on the really rather gorgeous Novastream range that I'm hoping will be reduced for Black Friday.

Tripp

The Holiday 7 range is a brand best-seller with its dual wheeled expandable medium-sized suitcases for extra space and smooth rolling and the soft shell Ultra Light range comes a close second when less weight is more important.

My personal favourite is the Retro II range which offers modern-day interior space with an outer shell with an eye-catching mid-century design. Available at Amazon and Next shoppers can also bag 10% off everything when they sign up for emails on the Tripp website.

Eastpak

The timeless Eastpak Orbit backpack (Eastpak)

A firm favourite for faraway adventurers, Eastpak sells some of the UK's best-loved backpacks and hiking gear, as well as lightweight luggage.

Their cleverly designed Transverz compression case for example, offers flexible carry options and compression straps for a more slimline silhouette. From bum bags to backpacks, Eastpak collections are expected to once again see good discounts on Amazon for Black Friday.

While I'm not much of a backpacker these days, I still find Eastpak luggage to be exceptionally strong and really cleverly crafted, with additional storage spaces and waterproof exteriors. This Black Friday I am hoping to see a little bit off the price of their iconic Orbit backpack, which is a great option for days out or at the gym.

Already available on Amazon with 10% off selected items, you can also expect to see prices fall at John Lewis, House of Fraser, Sports Direct and other Eastpak stockists online.

Trunki

Kids love the Trunki ride-on cases (Trunki)

I couldn't write a piece about luggage without including something for your littlest adventurers.

The much-loved Trunki range offers compact hard side cases in a choice of colourful designs that double up as a ride-on for toddlers and younger children. Perfect for making airports much more fun, the Trunki keeps toys and snacks close at hand on the go.

The friendly face of Terrance the blue Trunki is currently reduced from £44.99 to £33.50 on Amazon, and other colours and designs are also expected to see prices cut for Black Friday.
