After Wrexham finally managed to make the jump out of the National League to League Two following their sensational promotion last season, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney knew tough decisions would have to be made.

As they have previously stated on several occasions, not every player will continue to be on the journey with them. They had to release players and beloved teammates as they looked to compete for promotion from League Two at their first time of asking. The Hollywood owners have backed manager Phil Parkinson financially, bringing in some quality additions to the squad with them currently sitting in the automatic promotion spot. But who were the players who did not rejoin the squad after last year's historic season?

Here, Mirror Sport takes a look at the players who moved on from the club this summer and how they have fared at their new teams.

Jake Hyde (Yeovil Town)

A go-to off-the-bench option for Phil Parkinson in his first year in charge, Hyde scored a few valuable goals for the team after joining from Halifax Town. But with Wrexham having an array of options at the forward positions, he was allowed to leave the club this summer, joining National League side Yeovil.

A talented defender for the level he had been playing at, Lennon had previously spent time with Charlton Athletic before joining Wrexham in 2021. Throughout his career though, he had struggled with injuries and after making just 18 league appearances in two years he decided to retire from the sport aged 28.

Reece Hall-Johnson (Barnet)

A regular starter in defence over the past two seasons, Hall-Johnson was a solid player in the Wrexham backline. But after the team signed Eoghan O'Connell and Will Boyle to go with Ben Tozer and Jordan Tunnicliffe, Hall-Johnson would have known it would have been tough to get minutes heading into the new year, and decided to move on.

Kai Calderbank-Park (Chester)

The Australian goalkeeper did not play a game after numerous spells with fellow non-league sides, and has now moved on to local rivals Chester, where he competes for the number one spot.

Rory Watson (York City)

The long-time Scunthorpe United goalkeeper joined Wrexham on a short-term contract after injuries to Rob Lainton and Christian Dibble. Watson did not make an appearance serving as the backup for Mark Howard and Ben Foster, and joined Doncaster Rovers to begin this season. After failing to secure a first-choice spot, he then moved on to York - his hometown.

Tom Jenkins (Northwich Victoria)

The 20-year-old failed to secure a spot in the first-team and has moved on to play regularly with Northwich Victoria.

Ryan Austin (Caenorfon Town)

The young defender returned signed for Caenarfon Town after failing to break into the first-team for Wrexham - where he had come through the academy.

Louis Lloyd (Caenorfon Town)

Lloyd had been with Wrexham as a teenager before moving on to Shrewsbury Town and resigning for the Welsh club after a successful trial. But after a year with the youth team and the reserves, he has moved to Caenorfon with Austin.
