Kate's pre-royal Halloween outfits - fishnets, racy boots and hot pants

The Princess of Wales knows the power of her wardrobe and is often said to use her clothes to send powerful messages.

But that doesn't mean Kate doesn't like to also have fun with her clothes and make another kind of statement from time to time. And it seems that over the years, she's also worn some eye-catching fancy dress costumes which were perfect for Halloween.

Back in 2007, when she had been dating Prince William for several years, she went to a spooky party hosted by her younger sister, Pippa. Following the fancy dress tradition, she opted to go as a vampire wearing a black dress with a black cape, fishnet tights and black high boots. She accessoried with a silver waist belt and a bring pink handbag.

But her spooky look isn't the only time we've seen her her in fancy dress before she took up her role in the Royal Family. A few years previously, she was photographed at a roller disco charity party - and she certainly looked the part.

She went all out for the 2004 fundraiser, wearing a green sequin top with a matching ribbon, yellow shorts and pink legwarmers, under another pair of black boots. And Kate isn't the only royal who likes a bit of fancy dress, and many of her in-laws have been seen in impressive costumes.

To celebrate her 18th birthday, Princess Beatrice had a £400,000 party at Windsor with a Victorian-themed masked ball. All the guests dressed up in traditional gowns and suits, including the York sisters and their parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

About 400 people attended, including Prince Edward and wife Sophie, and Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall. Even though the Queen hosted the party, she didn't attend. Princess Eugenie had a Disney-themed fancy dress party for her 25th birthday, reportedly going as Snow White.

Meanwhile, during their first Halloween as a couple, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spent it with Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank in Toronto in 2016, when they all went to the city's Soho House for an Apolcapyse-themed bash. Pictures shown during the Sussexes Netflix docuseries revealed the foursomes' costumes that night, including the Mad Max one Harry wore, which was borrowed from the actor Tom Hardy.
