Boxing legend Mike Tyson has told John Fury "he's out of his mind" after he challenged him to a fight.

John staked his claim for a shot at 57-year-old icon Tyson at the press conference for his son's crossover fight against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou tonight. 'Iron Mike' has played down any chance of another fight, as he only returned for a one-off exhibition against fellow legend Roy Jones Jr three years ago.

“He’s out of mind about the exhibition,” Tyson told reports before saying of the fight build-up: "I’ll tell you what has impressed so much at the weigh-in and press conference, normally they have to be tough but it was all love in there. It was a majestic sign of ‘We’re fighting each other’, just amazing. I’ve never experienced anything like that."

John awkwardly asked fans for to respect him for being the man to raise unbeaten WBC champion Fury, who he named after the youngest heavyweight champion in history. The 59-year-old, who went 8-4-1 in his professional career, then boasted about being fearless whilst calling out 'Iron Mike', who is in the corner of Ngannou tonight.

"I'm sat in the company of these great people, Mike Tyson on the end who I named my son after, I named my son Tyson. But you know what? Give me a special mention, the man who bred him. John Fury fears no man, no man on earth no matter what they've done, no matter what the accolades," John said.

"John Fury only fears one person and he's not even of this world and that's God Almighty. Here I am, any man alive wants to fight John Fury, I'm ready to go, Mike Tyson what have you got to say to that my brother?" Tyson refused to scoop to John's level and stayed classy in his reply by saying: "Hey brother, I'm just looking forward for this fight to start."

Ngannou ambitiously asked Tyson to help him prepare for a fight against Fury several years ago when he was still signed to the UFC. Tyson came through on his promise and has been coaching Ngannou for the past couple of months, but John is offended that Tyson believes Ngannou can dethrone his son and thinks the prediction is a disrespect to boxing.
