All hints Chloe Madeley and James Haskell had split as they confirm separation

Chloe Madeley and husband James Haskell have announced they have split following weeks of speculation.

The daughter of TV legends Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan and the rugby star confirmed they had separated at the end of September after five years of marriage. It comes after the couple sparked separation rumours in recent weeks after both being spotted without their wedding rings and having their "biggest row ever". James has said he was feeling "a lot of sadness" as he shared the same statement with his fans shortly after Chloe.

Chloe and James share one-year-old daughter Bodhi together and confessed speculation about the state of their relationship has forced them to go public with their split. In her statement Chloe said: "James and I mutually decided separate at the end of September, 2023. We had not planned on releasing a statement at this time - certainly not while the television show was airing - but constant speculation about our marriage has, unfortunately, forced our hand.

"Beyond this statement, we will not be speaking about this matter publicly, and we would request privacy at this time. Our sole focus now is our beautiful daughter. We shall continue to co-parent with nothing but love." We take a look at all the signs the couple had decided to go their separate ways.

Explosive rows

Over the summer, Chloe opened up on the challenges she and James were facing in their marriage. She recalled "multiple arguments" with I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! star James ahead of welcoming their first child into the world. Yet when the couple's ITVBe reality show Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair aired, their "biggest row ever" was shown to viewers. Chloe became upset when her husband was away working in Ibiza and posted "photos of other girls' a****".

The 36-year-old has accepted that it is part of James' job as a DJ to be around bikini clad women but she didn't appreciate that he posted it to his social media page. In an interview with The Sun, Chloe said that she was angry that he had "posted photos of other girls' a****." The argument is featured on the couple's ITVBe reality show and Chloe said about the exchange of words: "My argument was, 'I don't mind that that is your job but I don't want you putting it on social media when everyone knows I'm your wife."

James recently admitted the couple had many arguments about him extending his Ibiza trip. Speaking to Unfiltered, James admitted Chloe believes his trips are a 'holiday' for him and was outraged when he decided to extend his work trip by a couple of days. The former rugby player said: "My wife thinks DJing in Ibiza is a holiday – it's work. We've had a few arguments about it. I mean she's very supportive but kind of extending your trip for a few extra days is probably taking the p**s a little bit."

'Unrealistic' Richard and Judy marriage

Opening up on her TV show, Chloe branded her famous parent's relationship "unrealistic". She admitted her own marriage was nothing like king and queen of daytime TV, Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan. Chloe said: "In what world is theirs a realistic reflection of a marriage? They woke up together, they’d go to work together, they’d come home together, have dinner together and spend their weekends together. And that was life."

She added: "Growing up with that is, I think, partly why I struggled when James started working as a DJ — travelling and staying away from home — because it created a very different family dynamic to the one I was used to."

Mystery blonde

The 38-year-old former rugby player was seen speaking with a blonde partygoer outside celeb haunt the Chiltern Firehouse in the early hours. However, a spokesperson for James told The Mirror that nothing was going on. They said: "The woman pictured is a friend of James’s group who he just met that night. They were simply having a conversation outside so there is nothing to this story." It was later reported the mystery blonde was PR director Martine Bridge, according to inside sources.

He and Martine were spotted engrossed in conversation as they departed the celebrity hotspot, which is known for serving a litany of A-list customers including Kate Moss, Rita Ora and Cara Delevingne. "The woman in the photos with James is Martine Bridge," a source told the MailOnline, before adding that the "hugely successful businesswoman" is "at the top of her game" in the PR industry.

Chloe hides ring

Earlier this month Chloe was spotted with no wedding ring following James being spotted with the mystery woman. She was said to have been "upset" about the snaps and when heading out on a night out with friends over the weekend weekend, Chloe's wedding band was clearly missing from her ring finger.

Chloe enjoyed a glamorous night out with friends on Saturday 14 October, heading to the Treehouse Hotel bar near Oxford Circus before moving on to Soho House for the final part of her evening, where she was pictured without her wedding ring.

On October 18 James was spotted without his ring as he pushed his baby daughter Bodhi in a pram through London. With his left hand in full view and his wedding ring is nowhere in sight. James appears downcast in the photo, obtained by The Sun, as he sported a black tracksuit, while holding on to his phone and the pram.

Richard has 'words'

The following week it was reported Chloe's dad Richard was 'not happy at all' over their recent marriage woes. A source claimed to OK! magazine: "Chloe is leaning very heavily on her mum and dad. They’re very, very close and very supportive and they don’t want her to be unhappy. Her mum and dad are really involved in their lives together, especially since they became grandparents to Bodhi. They’re really hands-on."

They added: "Richard especially isn’t happy at all with the way James has been conducting himself – he’s going to be having words with him about his behaviour. As a father, he wants the best for his daughter and he won’t be afraid to make his feelings heard. Judy also lives and breathes for her children and you don’t want to mess with her when it comes to her kids."

Reality TV arguments

Rows between the couple were aired on their reality TV show Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair. In one scene Chloe fumed she "wanted to kill" her husband, while in another she claimed he "made her look like a k***". Chloe could be seen putting away her clothes, but the wardrobe rattled. An onlooking James quipped: "It's your heavy hands isn't it. You have got massive heavy hands. Every time you close the door on my car I worry it is going to fall off."

Chloe hit back: "I swear to god the reason you got voted out of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here is because of your big fat fingers. You got so frustrated that you yelled at Ant and Dec. That's where you lost the viewers and you lost Ant and Dec, and this is literally our marriage. That scene is our marriage. You getting frustrated about something that is f*** all to do with me and then yelling at me thinking it is my fault because I am the closest person to you at this time. This is why I want to kill you, which is what we were talking about earlier."

In another episode, Chloe shared her anger when her husband posted a carousel of videos and photos with a group of women while working as a DJ in Ibiza. She said: "He's on Instagram uploading videos and photos of all these girls, and I was like, 'I will kill you. I will fly to Ibiza and kill you.' He posted videos of him with loads of girls in thongs because he thinks that it makes him look cool on social media.

"I'm like, 'you're a k*** and you make me look like a k***. Stop doing it'." She admitted: "But he loves it. Honestly, at least he's having fun. You know what I mean."

Cryptic post

On Monday 23 October, Chloe posted a cryptic message on social media, claiming to feel "lucky". Chloe posted a thought-provoking message on her Instagram story. As she shared a photo of her daughter, she wrote above: "I think about how lucky I am every day. Especially after the last few weeks. I'm sure I'm not alone in that. Count your blessings."

Boozy trip

James was spotted on yet another lads trip this week as he headed to France with pals including Mike Tindall. Taking to Instagram to share snaps of his day out with the lads, James was seen posing with pals around several small round tables, all of which were topped with glasses. While he was away, Chloe took to social media to say she was "keeping it real" as she thanked her fans for support with her TV show.
