Strictly's Adam Thomas mysteriously ignores ill health after nearly missing show
Adam Thomas made no mention of his ill health as he appeared on Strictly Come Dancing tonight after nearly missing the show.
There were fears the former Emmerdale and Waterloo Road star would be unable to perform tonight after he missed yesterday's edition of It Takes Two as he was unwell. However, earlier today, it was confirmed he would be taking to the dancefloor tonight.
Adam, who is partnered with Luba Mushtuk, danced an American Smooth to Magic Moments by Perry Como tonight, amid fears he may have to miss the show all together after falling unwell. It is believed he had the flu but he was recovered enough this evening to take part in the programme alongside his fellow celebrities for Halloween week.
Speaking tonight about the compliments he received, he said: "It's the best complement in the world. I'm the best student because she's the best teacher. The compliments tonight were unbelievable. "
On Friday, Luba appeared alone on It Takes Two as Adam was unwell. Host Fleur East told viewers: "Unfortunately Adam is feeling a bit under the weather, but please give it up for the lovely Luba Mushtuk," as she admitted: "It's so strange to be here by myself."
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likenessEarlier in the series, Adam revealed he had been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. Speaking to The Mirror at the time, he said: "I’ve not talked about this before but no-one really knows the pain I’ve been going through. I put on a brave face but it’s been difficult to keep that persona up. Emotionally and physically, it’s had a huge impact on my life this year."
An autoimmune disease, rheumatoid arthritis sees your immune system attacks the cells that line your joints by mistake. Although there’s no cure, early treatment such as medicine and lifestyle changes can reduce the risk of joint damage. He explained: "I am slowly getting my arthritis under control, and it’s a chance for me to get out there again and to get fit and move again, and I’m just very thankful for it. It’s about trying to climb out of that hole and just trying to stay positive."
Adam has been balancing training with filming for the new series of Waterloo Road. Speaking about the struggle, he shared: "I’ve just got to work around the schedules really which is quite difficult to be honest. But I’ve been dealt the cards that I have, and I need to deal with it but to be honest I am really up for it. I’m crying but also laughing as well."
