Mike Tyson vs John Fury tale of the tape as Tyson's dad chases fight with legend

John Fury is not content with having named his son after Mike Tyson - now he wants to fight the boxing legend.

The two men will be in opposite corners in Saudi Arabia tonight with Fury supporting his son Tyson while boxing icon Tyson will be offering his expertise to Francis Ngannou who faces the near-impossible task of knocking out the best heavyweight boxer of his generation.

But at a press conference earlier this week, Fury Sr attempted to steal the limelight by picking a fight with Tyson who looked rather bemused by the whole thing. Eventually Tyson 'agreed' to fight Fury if Ngannou causes the upset - but he was more than likely keen to bring an end to the circus.

But just for laughs, here is how the two men stack up...

Mike Tyson

The Baddest Man on the Planet needs no introduction but his tale of the tape might as well just be a list of his accomplishments. He was the youngest ever heavyweight world champion at the age of 20 and can no doubt still pack a punch 37 years later. Tyson went on to hold three world titles at the same time - and defend them simultaneously before becoming the lineal champion with a stunning KO of Michael Spinks.

He spent six years in prison for rape before returning to the ring to win back two of his heavyweight belts before being plunged into more controversy when he bit Evander Holyfield's ear in their rematch. Tyson continued to win more often than he lost but bowed out with successive defeats by Danny Williams and Kevin McBride before returning to the ring in 2020 for an exhibition with fellow legend Roy Jones Jr, a bout which was scored a draw.

John Fury

Fury's record pales into insignificance compared to Tyson's. While the American won and lost millions during his professional career, Fury won just £4,000 over an eight-year spell as a paid fighter. Fury, who at 59 is two years Tyson's senior, lost his debut in 1987 but would go unbeaten in his next seven fights. Fury failed to reach world level in his boxing career and retired after suffering consecutive knockout losses to former WBO champion Henry Akinwade and Steve Garber.

He too spent time in prison when he gouged a man's eye out and was sentenced to 11 years inside. He emerged to support his son Tyson in his boxing career as he became heavyweight world champion and Fury Sr has also made his presence felt at ringside for Tommy's fights as he pursues a career in the influencer boxing scene.

But what he really wants is to fight Iron Mike, saying this week: "John Fury fears no man, no man on earth no matter what they've done, no matter what the accolades. John Fury only fears one person and he's not even of this world and that's God Almighty. Here I am, any man alive wants to fight John Fury, I'm ready to go, Mike Tyson what have you got to say to that my brother?"
