The One Show presenter Alex Jones has been missing from the BBC show after teasing a new project away from her hosting duties.

It comes after Alex shared a cryptic post to her Instagram stories, with a picture of her commute on a LeShuttle to France. But the presenter has left fans guessing after keeping a tight lid on the reason for her trip. On The One Show this week, regular face Jermaine Jenas was joined on the green sofa by Welsh sports presenter Gabby Logan.

This isn't the first time Alex has taken time off to pursue new opportunities. Alongside her permanent role on the chat show, the mum-of-three has previously fronted a number of other programmes including, Reunion Hotel, Alex Jones: Making Babies, and Shop Well For Less.

Last year, she embarked on a series about IVF. Previously Alex shared she “didn’t want to be the television girl that turned up and just was there to observe” in her documentary series about fertility.

She said: "I just really enjoyed the experience and felt like I had a proper role. Because I didn’t want to be the television girl that turned up and just was there to observe. But it wasn’t, it wasn’t easy.”

The 46-year-old mum also took to her social media to reveal her new Winter Edit for Cotton Traders, with pictures showing the star modelling coats, cosy jumpers, and cord trousers for a stylish autumn look.

Alex who is married to long-term partner Charlie Thomson, gave birth to her third child, a baby girl in 2021. She shares two other sons with her insurance broker husband.

Opening up about becoming a first-time mother in her thirties, she told The Telegraph: "I always wanted a family, but I wasn’t hugely maternal. I was glad when I fell pregnant because we were ready, but I wasn’t quite ready for the surge of love.

"Our life is less frenetic than it used to be – it’s more solid, more centred, more calm, and we love it. Having said that, some days you do think, ‘what have I done – is this going to continue forever?’ and that’s the flipside of it. While it’s magical, it’s also a game-changer!"
