Mamma Mia 3 announced after film producer's huge hint about third movie

Mamma Mia 3 has been confirmed by an extremely surprising source, following Judy Craymer's admission that it "will happen".

The fan-favourite musical's next addition to the sequel has been hotly anticipated for some time, with film producer Craymer even saying that "everyone wants it". Now, after its original success all the way back in 2008, Mamma Mia is back again (and again).

Previously featuring Hollywood A-listers Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth, it's not yet known who is going to be in the reported upcoming ABBA-filled flick. Confirmation of the new movie comes from an unlikely insider, comedian Alan Carr.

Following the release of his new reality competition show Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream, he slipped the Hollywood gossip in a new interview on Capital Breakfast. In his new programme, Carr joins fellow judges Jessie Ware, Samantha Barks and Amber Riley in a search for the next person to play Sophie in Mamma Mia! on the West End. But that doesn't appear to be his only involvement with the franchise, leaking details of the upcoming movie, Mamma Mia 3.

Joined by presenters Chris Stark and Sian Welby, Chris asked: "Mamma Mia!'s been in the West End for 25 years, be honest, is this a way of you, is this a way of you trying to get into the cast as well." Alan then dropped his "exclusive". He spilled: "Well, I’ve got an exclusive for you, Judy Cramer the producer has said that I’m gonna be in Mamma Mia 3, yes, and she said this and we did a press conference and I said 'say it say it' 'cause she'd had a few wines when she said it so I wanted her to say it in front of all the press."

Sian was quick to clarify: "So as in the film!?" As Alan cleared up: "The film, yeah, I'm going to Hollywood baby!" He isn't the only one spilling information about the flick, Judy herself let slip during a recent chat with Variety.

"I'm sure [the third movie] will happen," she teased. "I'm in the privileged position that I have Universal Studios wanting to do it, who I love working with, and I have a storyline. Bjorn and Benny always take a certain amount of convincing. I don’t know how much more convincing they’re gonna have because everybody wants another film."

Speaking to Deadline earlier this year, she said: "I don’t want to over-egg it, but I know there’s a trilogy there. There is a story there, and I do think Meryl should come back – and if the script is right, she would, I think, because she really loved playing Donna."
