Amazon Prime’s Fallout TV series gets release date announcement
Amazon Prime Video has confirmed the release date of its upcoming Fallout series based on the hugely successful video game franchise. Amazon made the announcement on Monday (October 23) – the date known as Fallout Day – alongside a teaser in the style of a Pip-Boy, a device from the games.
The live-action drama will follow an original story that will unfold in Vault 33, one of many underground bunkers scattered across a ravaged, post-apocalyptic United States and a regular feature of the games. The series will also be part of the franchise’s official canon.
Fallout will star The Hateful Eight’s Walton Goggins and Yellowjackets’ Ella Purnell, who lead an ensemble cast. Other stars include Twin Peaks’ Kyle MacLachlan, Emancipation’s Aaron Moten, The King of Staten Island’s Moisés Arias, Homeland’s Sarita Choudhury and Person of Interest’s Michael Emerson.

The series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in 2024, with fans able to stream it with a subscription to Amazon Prime for £8.99 a month or £95 a year. Members can also benefit from Amazon Prime’s 30-day free trial which includes access to hit shows including superhero animation Invincible and the upcoming James Bond game show 007: Road to a Million.

Fallout comes from Kilter Films and executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy – the creators of Westworld – under their Amazon overall deal that also includes 2022 sci-fi series The Peripheral. The duo have partnered with Fallout video game publisher Bethesda Game Studios to develop its live-action adaptation.

Nolan is an Oscar and Emmy-nominated writer, director, and producer, known for his work on The Dark Knight, Interstellar, and Memento alongside his brother, filmmaker Christopher Nolan. Joy is an Emmy award-nominated writer, director, and producer.
Captain Marvel writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Portlandia producer Graham Wagner serve as executive producers, writers and co-showrunners. Fallout will launch on Prime Video on April 12, 2024.
