Horror fans disturbed by ‘messed up’ film that’s leaving Amazon Prime in days
Horror fans have been left disturbed by a “messed up” film that’s set to be removed from Amazon Prime Video in days. The haunting body horror Tusk was released in 2014 and makes perfect viewing this Halloween.
The grisly flick is written and directed by American filmmaker Kevin Smith, best-known for stoner comedy Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and the fantasy comedy Dogma. It marks Smith’s second foray into the horror genre, following 2011’s outlandish crime-horror Red State.
Billed by production company A24 as “a chilling horror tale about the perils of storytelling,” Tusk follows arrogant American podcaster Wallace Bryton (Justin Long) as he travels to Canada to interview a mysterious old man with an incredible past – only to discover the man has a dark secret involving a walrus. The film is available to stream with a subscription to Amazon Prime, with members able to watch the film without paying a penny thanks to Amazon’s 30-day free trial.

Tusk stars Jeepers Creepers actor Justin Long, who also attracted widespread praise for his performance in twisted 2022 horror Barbarian – and is currently starring in Disney+’s Goosebumps reboot series. He appears alongside the late Michael Parks, Genesis Rodriguez, Haley Joel Osment and Johnny Depp.
Tusk proved divisive upon its release, earning mixed reviews from both critics and general audiences and bombing at the box office. Despite this, it has developed a strong cult following over the past decade, with particular praise attributed to Long’s performance and his new-found status as a modern horror icon.
