Jack Whitehall admits he 'cried for a solid week' after welcoming baby daughter

Jack Whitehall sweetly admitted that he "cried for a solid week" after welcoming his first child, a baby daughter called Elsie, with partner Roxy Horner in September.

The comedian, 35, appeared on Monday's This Morning to talk about his first tour in four years, but chat soon adorably turned to fatherhood. Jack said of being a first time dad: "I still feel like I'm very much in the trenches, six-and-a-half weeks in, my baby daughter is amazing and a gift, but it is also quite full on!" He added: "People did warn me you get that weird honeymoon period, where I found the first week it was so amazing, it was just so blissful, I was just so overwhelmed but the minute the second week hit... I was Googling boarding schools already!"

Talking more about Elsie's sleep, Jack said: "For the last four or five days, she was amazing and sleeping really well. I think it was like she knew I was coming to do breakfast television so she screamed the house down for the whole of last night." Jack joked he'd had no sleep, quipping: "I'm a little bit delirious!"

Later in the chat, Jack admitted he gets very emotional over things and sweetly "cried for a solid week" after his daughter was born. He said: "I cry at everything, I had this awful situation where, just before baby was about to be born, I was watching an episode of Tipping Point and I started crying.

"I was crying at an episode of Tipping Point because this woman wanted to get enough money to pay for an airfare to go and visit her sister in New Zealand. The jackpot counter went down and..." Jack then mimed crying.

He continued: "Then I had this awful moment, where I was like: 'If I'm crying at that, and I don't cry at the birth of my child... I am a monster.' Anyway, it was fine!" Host Alison Hammond then asked if Jack cried at his daughter's birth to which he sweetly admitted: "I mean, I cried for like a solid week!"

Roxy and Jack have been dating for over three years, having reportedly first met in Australia whilst the comic was doing a comedy tour Down Under. Today they live in a £17.5 million house in Notting Hill, where they also quarantined together during the COVID-19 pandemic.
