Irish woman with 'heart of gold' dies in murder-suicide after argument
Heartbreaking tributes have been paid after an Irish woman died in a murder-suicide in New York.
Denise Morgan was killed in New York after neighbours said they heard the sounds of an argument followed by gunshots at her apartment in Queens. One woman who lived in the four-family building told police: “I heard an argument and then the sound of gunfire. I immediately feared the worst and dialled 911.”
Officers arrived at the scene within minutes and found the bodies slumped on the floor of the living room in the flat. Police said there was a gun beside the man’s body which indicated that he shot Denise first, before taking his own life.
Facebook messages appeared on Denise's profile in the wake of her death. One person called the woman from Tullyallen, Drogheda, in County Louth a "beautiful" person with a "heart of gold."

Police are still investigating Denise's death, but believe she died in a murder-suicide (Facebook)Sister Shannon Morgan wrote: "No words can express the pain we are dealing with now. In the blink of an eye our world has broken and we are absolutely crushed. My beautiful sister has been taken from my life by such a heinous cowardly act. We will never get justice for this."
She added: "We are absolutely heartbroken. She was the kindest most sweetest soul I know and I can’t believe I’m writing this. I’ve always looked up to her growing up and she carved me into the woman I am today and I’m so proud to call her my sister.

The Cottage Bar Restaurant where Denise had worked said Denise's death left a "void" and said she will be "deeply missed." Another neighbour of Denise said the incident had shocked them because she though Denise was "nice people."
"They were very nice people, the woman would always say hello any time you’d meet her," they said. "None of us can believe this has happened.
"It is a terrible incident and we are all shocked. This is a really quiet neighbourhood but you never know what is going on behind closed doors."
The Mirror reported that an NYPD source said an investigation "remains ongoing." They said: "There doesn’t appear to be any other individuals involved. A neighbour heard arguments followed by gunshots. They both lived together in the apartment.”
