Liverpool sealed all three points in the Merseyside derby after a number of controversial decisions went their way against 10-man Everton.
Ashley Young was sent off for the Toffees, perhaps somewhat harshly after two bookable offences. Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate then escaped the same fate when referee Craig Pawson opted against sending him off despite penalising him for a cynical foul when already on a yellow.
Mohamed Salah then gave Liverpool the lead after Michael Keane was punished for an unfortunate handball, with the Egyptian then wrapping up the result in injury time.
The win puts pressure on Manchester City, who are in action against Brighton, as well as Newcastle, who host Crystal Palace, among a number of 3pm kick-offs, while Arsenal meet Chelsea at 5:30pm and Manchester United travel to Sheffield United at 8pm.
