Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep has seemingly undergone a striking hair transformation amid her secret "six-year-separation" and subsequent split from her longtime husband Don Gummer, whom she wed in 1978.

In a statement released to The Mirror today, following the news of their separation breaking via Page Six, a spokesperson confirmed: "Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than 6 years, and while they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart."

Meryl's hair appears to be whiter than usual

And the news of the couple splitting comes after Meryl debuted a striking new look on Wednesday, October 18. The Devil Wears Prada and Mamma Mia! actress showed off a full head of white hair at the Princess of Asturias Awards in Oviedo, in Spain.

Known for her grey or blonde hair that she has famously sported, it seems that Meryl has switched it up a notch after showing off her white locks at the event. Although she appears slightly grey in some snaps, the photos that see the actress in natural light show her hair as a fresh white hue.

Looking sensational at the event, the 74-year-old actress embraced her white hair while donning a very smart ensemble. Rocking a slick black suit, some glamorous pearl earrings, and some chunky prescription glasses, Meryl admitted that she felt "like Taylor Swift" when she received a standing ovation.

Meryl famously sported white-grey locks in The Devil Wears Prada when she took on the role of no-nonsense fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly. And now she seems to be embracing this look in the real world ahead of turning 75 next year.

This comes after it was revealed that Meryl and her longtime husband Dom had split, with them even having lived separately for the past six years. The couple, who have now parted ways, share four children together from their lengthy marriage, with them being parents to Henry Wolfe, 43; Mamie Gummer, 40; Grace Gummer, 37; and Louisa Jacobson, 30. They also have five grandchildren.
