Alison Hammond was forced to confess what she really did with a £20 note after saying she gave it to charity.

The This Morning host was presenting the ITV daytime show on Friday as she was joined by co-star Dermot O'Leary. At the start of the show the hosts discussed unexpected moments of happiness as part of the This Morning's View segment. During their chat, former Big Brother star Alison admitted she found a £20 note on the floor.

She said she immediately donated the money to charity. However, co-host Dermot had heard another story. Alison explained: "I was walking, I looked at the floor and I was like 'That looks like a £20 note'. It was. I picked it up and I donated it to charity." Yet Dermot looked suspiciously at Alison as he revealed the truth.

He shared: "She went to the charity shop and she bought a handbag for £15. For charity. And she kept the £5." In the end, Alison did confirm Dermot's version of events were true. She confessed she spent £15 in a charity shop and treated herself to some sweets with the change. Alison admitted: "And I did buy some sweets with that..."

Last week on This Morning, Alison suffered another awkward blunder after the show had to be stopped live on air. She was filled with embarrassment during her chat with Michael Ball as she spoke to the singer about his new book. Their chat came after a segment with two Madonna super fans, as the queen on pop kicked off her six night stint at London's O2 stadium. Alison and Dermot had been shown a collection of the popstar's belongings, including a bracelet.

As the duo were chatting to Michael, a klaxon could be heard and red flashing lights lit up the studio. Alison said: “I have just realised.. I am so sorry Michael, I have still got Madonna’s bracelet. I am so sorry! I didn’t realise." A flustered Alison grabbed her wrist and took off the bracelet. Madonna fan James, who had just been interviewed, returned to the set to get his prized possession back. The presenter continued: "I am so sorry James. I was literally just sitting here speaking to Michael and then I realised I had still got the bracelet."

After a lot of laughter, the presenters were able to return to the interview. Alison added: "Back to you Michael, I am so so sorry." He shouted after James: "Leave it in my dressing room!" Later on in the show, Alison admitted she still couldn't believe she had walked off with the jewellery.

Alison quipped: "Honestly it looked really bad didn't it." Dermot said: "It looked terrible, we were halfway through the interview and in her ear, [she was asked] Alison have you got Madonna's bracelet?"She explained: "I tried it on at the end cause I wanted a photo. I was showing it in the photo and then I walked off. Thank goodness it came back."
