Corrie's Lucy Fallon returns to filming as Bethany Platt with 'brand new look'

Coronation Street star Lucy Fallon is back filming with the ITV soap, after it was confirmed she was returning to the show after three years away.

Lucy is reprising her role as Bethany Platt on the soap, having left in 2020. It could mean her scenes will air just in time for Christmas, while it's not known what her return storyline will be.

A date for her onscreen return is not yet confirmed, but Corrie has revealed she will definitely be back before the year is out. That said, they have teased a big change for Bethany since her last time on the show.

Sharing a video on their official Instagram page, they confirmed "a whole new look" for the character as she makes her return. Speaking in the video, Lucy shared her excitement to be back on the cobbles as she confirmed she had started filming again.

Speaking in the clip, and dressed in character, she said: "Hello everyone it's me, Bethany. It's my first day back filming today. I am very excited, a little bit nervous, but I can't wait for you all to see what Bethany is up to. Bye!"

The caption of the clip read: "Look who's back! Bethany returns with a whole new look. Watch out for her arrival on screen towards the end of the year," with a popcorn emoji. Could this be a hint there is drama ahead? Might there be unfinished business with her exes Ryan Connor and Daniel Osbourne?

As for the "whole new look", Bethany's costume looks a little different to how we saw her three years ago. That said, she has no doubt changed during her years away from home, but viewers will have to tune in to see if she's the same as she was back then.

Viewers were thrilled to hear she was back filming, glad to see she would be back onscreen soon. One viewer commented: "Yess!! Love Bethany," as another said: "Love her!! Can’t wait to see her back onscreen."

Another fan said: "Can’t wait to see you back," while a comment read: "FAVOURITE CHARACTER IS BACK!!" A further post said: "Yessssss she is back finally I'm so happy."
