A popular energy drink running low on stock is now up for sale in a dessert shop, but it is priced at £10 per bottle.

Prime, which was created by YouTube star turned rapper KSI and WWE wrestler Logan Paul, is popular among teenagers who have been asking their parents to buy the drink in supermarkets in recent weeks.

Last week, Aldi announced it would sell Prime for just £1.99 a bottle, with customers rushing to stores to buy as many drinks as possible.

Meanwhile, Shell garages are believed to have the drink in stock for £3, reports Glasgow Live.

However, Tubbees Dessert Lab on Paisley Road West in Glasgow is selling the popular Prime energy drink for £10 a bottle.

A note displayed in its store window states: "Due to demand, we have sourced Prime, this has come to us at 5 times the price as it's imported from the USA."

But the hefty price tag has left some customers raging on the shop's social media.

One person said: "I will be boycotting all Tubbees stores due to this, scalping is disgusting. Adding £1 on to the price is understandable however adding a 400% profit on is vulgar."

Another wrote: "There's people out there barely getting by and kids wanting this and you charge £10."

A third added: "How disgusting is this."

A spokesperson for Tubbees Dessert Lab said: "The Prime we have brought in has been imported from the United States, it's being sold to us five times the price of the official UK retailer.

"We have brought this in due to demand from customers, and at each sale the price is explained. We hope to get better stock shortly."

Prime Hydration is a 25-calorie concoction of coconut water, electrolytes and zero-added sugar in 500ml of fruity liquid.

It has been on sale in the US for a while, but recently launched in the UK.

After teens spotted the message on TikTok that Aldi would be selling Prime for one day only last week, they were quick to spread the word to their mates.

Dad-of-two Jon knew how much it meant to his teenage boy, so he got up early to queue.

"It's sold by Asda but it's usually out of stock, so the combination of hype and scarcity means that all the kids want it," he said.

"People are even selling empty bottles on eBay and Facebook, which is ridiculous, but it’s become a bit of a status symbol.

"The corner shops and off-licences around here are selling it over the counter for £9, when it's normally £1.99, so you don't often get the chance to buy it at its retail price."

Viral footage from Thursday showed adults, teens and children all scrambling to get hold of Prime bottles - which come in ice pop, blue raspberry, and lemon-lime flavours in the UK.

Outside their local Aldi store, where Jon and Oscar were waiting, staff told customers they were limited to buying one of each flavour per shopper, but with about 200 people lining up, not everyone would be going home with a bottle.

Aldi apologised to shoppers who were unable to buy bottles of Prime after scenes of "absolute carnage".

The supermarket stated: "Aldi has primed its shelves to stock the latest internet sensation, Prime Hydration Drink.

"The viral hydration drink created by two popular YouTube stars, KSI and Logan Paul, is available to buy for just £1.99 in Aldi stores nationwide on 29th December. The drink will be a Specialbuy – and as with all Specialbuys, once they're gone, they're gone!

"The supermarket is expecting high demand so a purchase limit of one of each variant per customer has been set to ensure as many people as possible get the opportunity to buy the product."
