It’s safe to say winter has arrived, and with chillier days to come, it’s becoming more and more tempting to pop that heating on full blast - especially for those working from home.

With energy and household bills still sky high, many people are relying on Martin Lewis and his team to share affordable ways to keep warm as the temperature continues to drop - and one of his ‘top tips’ costs less than 1p an hour to run.

According to the MoneySavingExpert guide which was updated in September, USB heated gloves are one of the cheapest heating options on the list, with an initial investment of around £10, costing less than 1p an hour to run, and around 4p a week to use, based on being used for five hours a day.

If you're keen to invest in a pair for winter, we’ve spotted these budget-friendly gloves from Amazon which are priced at £9.99 - and the half finger design makes them ideal for home workers who still need their hands for typing.

The gloves are really simple to set up and come with two USB cables that plug into your laptop or a portable power bank to provide an almost-instant heat source, reaching to around 40°C. Inside the mittens are two built-in heat patches that can warm both the palm and backs of the hands within a minute.

The winter warmers can only be heated up when they are attached to a power source including portable power banks/chargers, however they can be used as regular mittens too when out and about.

A customer with Raynaud's syndrome has found the gloves extremely helpful for 'reducing pain' during the cold weather. She said: "These gloves will definitely get me through the winter. I plugged them into a charging box and they instantly warmed up. The connected cables are also very long, so you can easily thread them through the jacket so that they are not visible from the outside."

A second shopper added: "I bought the gloves because I get cold very quickly in winter, even if I wear thick gloves. These heated gloves not only look great, but they also create a pleasant warmth - and you can't go wrong with the price." If you suffer with cold hands throughout the gruesome winter, you can pick up these USB heated gloves here for £9.99.

In response to Martin Lewis' top tip to 'layer up on clothing' to stay warm, while not specifically promoting the Oodie brand, last year on Martin Lewis’ Money Saving Expert website, one fan claimed she hadn’t used the heating since purchasing a hooded blanket.

Although they’re not the cheapest wearable blankets out there, seeing as you’ll be using the heating much less, it’s definitely worth the investment and can save you hundreds, if not thousands in the long run. Plus, there’s even a huge sale on right now which sees all adult Oodie's dropped to £49 down from £89.
