BBC Strictly Come Dancing caused a stir with Beverley Knight's performance on Sunday night's results show - as fans accused her of lip-syncing.

The show, which was pre-recorded on Saturday, appeared to cause chaos when Beverley took to the dancefloor to belt out a tune – however viewers at home were left baffled by the performance. As soon as Beverley, 50, appeared on-screen viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their reactions as several suggested that the singer was actually miming because something about her performance 'felt off'.

However, Beverley has now slammed the speculation, insisting that throughout her lengthy and stellar career, she has never been so insulted by claims of lip-syncing. "Hello everyone who was watching #Strictly tonight! In the entirety of my career, I’ve never EVER mimed a note. Not once. The slay is real people, note for note," she hit back.

It comes after several viewers shared tweets claiming that Beverley had pre-recorded her performance and wasn't singing live. One BBC Strictly Come Dancing viewer shared: "When I watched last week Madison Beer was on and it looked like she wasn’t singing live. Jessie Ware looked like she was lipping too. Are the singers told they need to lip sync? Weird." Another echoed: "Beverley Knight is amazing. Why on earth is she miming on Strictly? #Strictly,", while someone else added: "Beverley noooooooo why is she miming."

It comes BBC revealed the third star to leave the hit BBC One dance competition after a tough dance-off. During Sunday's results show, Jody Cundy became the third contestant to leave as he faced Eddie Kadi in the dreaded dance-off. The two stars had to perform their routines again as Jody, 45, and pro partner Jowita Przystal performed their Salsa to Samba de Janeiro by Bellini while Eddie, 40, and his pro partner Karen Hauer performed their American Smooth to Sex Bomb by Tom Jones.

After both couples had danced a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts as Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Eddie and Karen. Craig said: "For improvement and musicality I would like to save Eddie and Karen." Motsi Mabuse also chose to save Eddie and Karen, saying: "For me it was a very clear decision, one couple was much, much stronger. I would love to save Eddie and Karen."

It was three votes for Eddie and Karen as Anton Du Beke also chose to save them, explaining: "Well based on the dance off and the dance off only, I thought one couple danced very well and one couple had a bit of an off night, there were a couple of mistakes there so I would like to save Eddie and Karen." With three votes to Eddie and Karen, they had won the majority vote and head judge Shirley Ballas also said she would have decided to save the duo.

After his fate was revealed, Jody said: "You know what, when I signed up for this I thought what on earth am I signing up for and we did that first live show and I absolutely loved every second of it. And just being able to dance and do something I've never done before and get completely out of my comfort zone and with this amazing person.

"This person's got so much energy, every morning like 9 O'clock we've got, start of training and she's like BAMMM, like this, she comes into the room like an absolute cannonball and she just doesn't stop the whole day. And she doesn't lose any faith, doesn't lose anything, motivates me on to do more and more. So I've had an absolute blast."
