Former X Factor star Edward Grimes has revealed that he was left 'shaken up' after an attempted mugging by masked attackers. The Irish singer, 31, who is best known for being part of Jedward alongside his twin brother John, opened up about the terrifying ordeal on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Edward, who appeared on the ITV singing competition back in 2010, warned Londoners to keep safe on the streets as he shared his experience. "Be careful everyone Two masked guys tried to mug me on bikes as I was talking on the phone. Obviously shaken but was not expecting it. Seems like it’s happening all over London."

The Lipstick hitmaker added: "Felt my wrist and arm being grabbed from behind it all happened so fast and didn’t have John next to me. Just would hate this to happen to anyone else and being made feel vulnerable."

It comes after the Irish music duo Jedward recently opened up on their friendship with former TOWIE and reality TV star Gemma Collins, as they praised her as "a solid person" in their lives.

The pair revealed a bond with Celebrity Big Brother star Gemma Collins in an exclusive chat to the Mirror as they revealed the star has a different side to what the public sees and that she kindly helped them when they moved to London recently.

Speaking to the Mirror, Jedward said: "Our friend Gemma [Collins] recently gave us her furniture, so we have some Barbie furniture in our spot. Gemma is such a vibe, such a solid person in our lives. We've known each other for a few years now. There's a lot more to Gemma, cos obviously everyone has this opinion of Gemma but she can get deep and she's had things happen in her life."

The Irish music duo are currently staying busy as they revealed they will be looking to release new music in the future. The pair explained: "We're still doing music, we have like 24 songs that are ready to be like tracked and are ready to go. We're ready to give a new sound, like a stripped back style like we did 'Everybody Hurts' on The Late Late Show."
