King Charles III has been praised for his dress sense, with a Repair Shop star hailing the attire as "to die for" - even after the monarch criticised his outfit.

Jay Blades, presenter of the TV show which has so far ran for 12 seasons, was full of praise for the King of England. Blades, 53, was even offered some fashion advice by the King, who told him to purchase a sporran. Daytime favourite The Repair Shop sees family heirlooms restored to their original quality, with the show running since March 2017. A special episode featuring King Charles III, filmed in late 2021 and early 2022, saw the shop experts repair an 18th-century bracket clock and 19th-century ceramic vase made for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Speaking of the encounter with the King just a month ago, Jay said: "I was up at Dumfries again, and basically I had a kilt made and he commented on the kilt. He just said to me 'Jay, look you're missing something'. I didn't have a sporran, which wasn't good. And basically he told me about a shop that I should go to. So I've gone there and they've made me two special ones." Blades had been filming with the King of England for a special one-off episode of Repair Shop TV in Dumfries at the time.

But Blades' praise for the King's trendy attire did not stop there. He added: "And I admire his style as well. He's got a beautiful overcoat, and his double-breasted suits are to die for." He has since kitted himself out with sporran and kilts, appearing at a recent awards ceremony in an attire suggested to him by the royal figurehead. The 53-year-old presenter revealed the tips he received from the King in a recent appearance on the Rosebud podcast. His praise for the Monarch comes just days after fashion model David Gandy admitted he had been upstaged by a kilt-wearing head of state.

David Gandy, 43, was also full of praise for the regal attire, with the clothing business entrepreneur making clear his admiration of Charles' choice of fashion. He recalled an appearance at a 2016 Campaign for Wool dinner, where his attire had conjured a feeling of pride until Charles stepped into the room. Gandy was left comparing himself to the at-the-time Prince of Wales, who entered in a kilt and sporran with velvet green jacket, a look which "killed", Gandy said.
