Meghan Markle's hit drama show Suits is getting a new companion show from NBCUniversal.

The original show aired from 2011 to 2019 for nine seasons, with Meghan playing paralegal Rachel Zane. The now Duchess of Sussex was only in the first seven seasons prior to marrying Prince Harry. The last episode she was in aired a month before her wedding to the younger son of King Charles and the late Princess Diana.

Deadline reports that Aaron Korsh, who created the series, is reportedly starting to develop a new show that would be in the same universe as Suits, but would not be a reboot or sequel.

According to some sources, the series will take place in Los Angeles instead of New York City like the original. The show would also include new characters instead of the conning Mike Ross, played by Patrick J. Adams, or the neurotic Louis Litt played by Rick Hoffman.

According to Nielsen data, over the summer, the hit legal drama spent twelve straight weeks as the most streamed television series in the United States. The Nielsen company counts the total minutes viewed across television and streaming platforms.

Suits most recently became available on Netflix, but it's also available on NBC's streaming platform Peacock. Nielson data claims viewership of the drama hit 2.359 billion minutes.

This wouldn't be the first Suits related spin-off, as there was a single season series called Pearson that centered around managing partner Jessica Pearson, played by Gina Torres. It premiered alongside the final season of suits on July 17, 2019. This season didn't take place in New York City either, and instead focused on Jessica taking on the Chicago law scene.

Rumours swirled recently that the beloved television show would have a reboot. Patrick J. Adams fueled these rumours by posting throwback pictures on his social media pages from behind the scenes of Suits.

"Let's get serious. Seriously. I miss my friends. Each and every one of them," He captioned one of his posts. The photos included unseen pictures of Meghan as well as other cast members. Patrick's character Mike fell in love, and eventually married, plucky Rachel played by Meghan.

"Law is a precise endeavour, Patrick. Be clear. The reboot is coming, right?" one person commented on Patrick's post. Another added: "I miss you all of you! Please do another season!!! Bring Rachel back too!"
