Don't buy Samsung's Galaxy S23 if you want to own ultimate Android smartphone

With plenty of great deals on Samsung's Galaxy S23 range of devices, now might seem like the perfect time to invest in one. However, before you take the plunge, it's worth remembering that something even better could be just around the corner.

Samsung almost always reveals its next generation of Galaxy S devices at the start of the year and it appears one of these soon-to-be-released devices could be ludicrously fast.

As spotted by the eagle-eyed team at SamMobile, there's already a Galaxy S24 Ultra performance score available to view in the Geekbench database.

For those not aware, Geekbench offers tests to show how fast phones are against the competition and the upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra looks like it will be rapid.

According to the leaked test result, this flagship phone scored an impressive 2,234 (single-core CPU) and 6,807 (multi-core). As a quick comparison, the current S23 Ultra can only muster 1,895 (single-core CPU) and 5,062 (multi-core). It's not hard to see the difference with the power expected to help make tasks feel faster and gaming more fluid.

That extra oomph appears to be coming from the inclusion of a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor which looks set to be officially revealed later this month.

Rumours suggest that the S24 Ultra will be powered by Qualcomm's brains whilst the cheaper S24 and S24+ will get Samsung's own Exynos chips inside.

More news about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will be unveiled a the Snapdragon Summit which takes place in Hawaii from October 24. Here we'll find out exactly how powerful it will be and what devices are likely to feature it.

With all of these updates arriving in the coming months, now might be a really bad time to invest in a Galaxy S23 Ultra if performance is important to you. The deals might be good but something much, much better appears to be coming soon.
