Ex- Manchester United star Louis Saha has torn into Mason Mount for his poor start to life at Old Trafford.

The England midfielder signed for the Red Devils in the summer for £60m from Premier League rivals Chelsea. Mount has endured a tough start for his new club.

Injury has limited the 24-year-old’s contributions, whilst Mount has only one assist to his name in six appearances in all competitions. That solitary set-up came during United’s 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the third round of the Carabao Cup. Saha has not been left particularly convinced by his signing as of yet.

He has claimed that Mount is capable of far more as a United player, whilst suggesting that Casemiro has been more of an attacking threat for the Red Devils so far this season. Speaking to King Casino Bonus, the Frenchman said: “Manchester United are relying on one or two players to create, and I haven’t seen enough of Mount yet.

“His creativity is nowhere to be seen. I didn’t see any positive runs from him against Brentford. His timing is off, too, and he can’t make chances by playing like this.

“I hope that the players find their groove, and once they do, they’ll be hard to play against. They have the energy, and when players like Bruno Fernandes start making those passes, I’ll be more confident in Man Utd.

“I think Mount can be a lot better, but I’d say the fee was too much. I think Chelsea was playing a game with the fee, even if the market is very competitive and a lot of players have moved for similar fees.

“I’d say, based on what we’ve seen, Mount isn’t performing and I’ve seen Casemiro play more offensively than Mount. That’s a crazy thing to say, but it’s true.”

Mount’s indifferent form for the Red Devils this season has seen him miss out on a place in the England squad for the October international break. Instead, Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice, Jordan Henderson, Kalvin Phillips and Conor Gallagher account for Gareth Southgate ’s midfield options.

Mount’s poor start at United is a continuation of the difficult form that he displayed during his final season with Chelsea. The midfielder scored just three goals and notched two assists in the Premier League last term.

Mount will hope to catch the attention of Ten Hag during the international break. The Red Devils are back in action as they take on Sheffield United at Bramall Lane next weekend.

They have the opportunity to secure back-to-back wins for the first time this season having overcome Brentford last time out after Scott McTominay ’s late brace at Old Trafford.
