Cleaning the kitchen can be a gruelling task that no one really wants to do. Even once you've done the dishes, kitchens can get greasy, grimy and generally gross. But in order to keep your kitchen pest-free and usable, it's a task that needs to be done.

Thankfully though, one professional cleaner has revealed how simply using a spatula can help keep your kitchen clean and can even help you tackle hard-to-reach areas that would normally be left to fester. Jetlag Remedy, a bespoke housekeeping company from Australia, shared this life hack in a TikTok which has reached 75,000 people.

"Here are three household cleaning hacks that are actually useful that I use as a pro cleaner", the woman in the video announced. The first trick to get "greasy grime out with ease" from tight spots involved wrapping a spatula in a microcloth. She used the covered spatula to scrape "along those hard to get to areas".

"It can be used around stoves, in sinks, in bathrooms, I love this one", she explained. A particularly helpful trick for tight corners where grime might get trapped, the hack relies on the spatula's sharp edge to pick up dirt and dust that would otherwise be hard to reach.

The cleaner also showed how she gets her sink shining, starting with a "minimal abrasive cream cleaner" like Cif, and giving the "whole sink a scrub". After this, she boiled the kettle, poured the hot water down the sink and waited for it to dry. The final step to a gleaming sink was using a stainless steel cleaner on a cloth and giving the area a wipe. Afterwards, the sink looked "brand new".

Her final tip was "making sure you're dusting your plants" - particularly the ones with big leaves. "It makes a huge difference to your house but what I do to make them super shiny and keep the dust away a little bit is add a tiny bit of oil", she explained, suggesting olive or coconut oil would do.

As well as looking nicer, dusting your plants is also important to make sure your plants are getting all the light that they need, as dust can impact their ability to absorb sunlight.

People were amazed by her hacks, with one person suggesting people could also use a toothbrush to clean those tricky areas as well. They were so impressed by her approach to cleaning that they asked as well what she uses to clean calcium water build-up on taps, dirty ovens and rusty stains.
