Everyone knows the holiday begins on the plane, which is why the majority of people pick their preferred seat in advance. Some always want to be by the window to watch take-off and landing while others opt for an aisle seat for ease.

Many airlines offer the option to select seating from booking right up until a couple of hours before travelling, with different seating options amounting to different fees. For those who want to try and save some money, or don't have a preference on where they sit they can choose to let the airline pick for them - however this can cause tension as one passenger found on her recent flight.

Detailing her journey on a recent flight, the passenger has shared her confusion over being asked by a pregnant woman to swap her window seat so her and her child could have it, she reiterated her confusion when the woman began screaming at her once she explained she didn't want to give up her seat as she had pre-booked it.

In a Reddit post, user Orangesiberiancat explained how she was travelling with her family for a two day trip and had pre-booked seats, hers by the window and her parents' further up the plane. However, in her post she explained how problems started when a pregnant woman asked if she would swap her seat so her baby could have a window seat - the woman says she politely refused her request.

It was after this refusal the situation escalated, she posted: "She was persistent, she kept on pestering me about that to the point she started to yell and burst into tears. Then another older woman came to us and told me to stand up and change my seat. I think maybe that's her mother. Okay so now, a stewardess came and try to calm the situation."

She added: "Then the mother said something that really makes me want to throw my bulky 5 inch heels at her which was “how can you do this to her? She’s pregnant!. We are women, but how can you oppress another woman? and look at you. You are very young, so you can sit in window seat later in the future when you are older. Now stand up and go sit on her seat!"

The poster did admit to arguing back with the woman and her mother, who eventually went back to their seats, the poster also admitted to sleeping the whole flight so was left wondering if they were in the right or if they should have given up their seat for the woman's child.

Commenting underneath the post, many users were quick to jump to the poster's defence. One person said: "No. Pregnant lady wants a window seat, pregnant lady can book a window seat." Another said: "I doubt that was the only window on the entire flight. She picked what she thought would be an easy target to bully out of their seat - a teenager that appeared to be alone."

A third added: "That is pathetic. Her baby is not even born and cannot see out the window yet. Then she acted like a helpless victim to get everyone to side with her demands."
