Whether you don't have a tumble dryer or a back garden or you're cursed with bad weather, we all know that drying your clothes indoors is far from ideal. It takes up space and time, it's a bit of an eyesore, and your laundry is left smelling unpleasantly mildewy as it takes ages to dry.

Fear not, there may be a solution to your air-drying frustrations this winter. One fan of cleaning guru Mrs Hinch has shared a hack on Facebook which will help your clothes dry in no time. "I was always told if the ground is dry, no matter the season, your clothes will dry too, just takes a little longer", she said.

"A little trick I learnt when winter comes is to get your clothes airer and a spare bed sheet and wrap it around the clothes airer. Attach it to the radiator or a heated fan and it traps the heat and dries the clothes quicker", she explained. She stressed it's important that the bed sheet is big enough to cover the airer - a king-sized sheet should work.

You could turn the heating on in just one room, or attach the clothes airer to a dehumidifier to remove moisture from the clothing. The hack follows the same principles as using a heated airer with a cover, but as these can be quite costly, this is definitely cheaper to set up.

People were amazed by the savvy tip, with one person saying "I've tried and tested this, it works brilliantly, your clothing will dry in half the time. Just make sure the clothing has enough room around it so the hot air can circulate properly, otherwise, your laundry will smell." Another person commented that the hack was "brilliant" and added: "I'm going to see if there is enough space near my radiators to do this."

Meanwhile, The Express spoke to Daniel Nezhad, Director of UK Radiators, who recommended ventilating the area too, by opening windows and doors. "Ventilate the area … contrary to popular belief, you shouldn't opt to trap the heat in your home by keeping the windows and doors shut tight," the expert explained. Other tips that can help dry your clothes quicker include putting your laundry on Extra Spin when in the washing machine to remove even more water.
