Dakota showed off a ring on her finger during her birthday bash

Dakota Johnson has rumours flying as she celebrated her 34th birthday with a sparkling ring on a certain finger.

The Fifty Shades of Grey actress was seen at Pace restaurant in Los Angeles with her longtime partner, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, and various other friends. In one photo, she holds her hand up to shield her face, and among her light pink nails, a big emerald ring sat on her engagement ring finger. After six years together, the Viva la Vida singer might have asked the actress to marry him.

Dakota was dressed in black latex-esque pants, white trainers, a white shirt, and a denim jacket. She had a pastel yellow coloured purse slung over one shoulder as she and Chris walked to their car.

Chris wore a grey beanie that he took off later in the night. He also wore a white t-shirt with the words "love is the drug" written on it, a watch and a bracelet on his left wrist, multicoloured trainers, and navy baggy trousers.

The couple were all smiles as they ate Italian food at the restaurant, dining on the patio outside. Later, Chris wrapped his arm around his love as he escorted her to their car. He opened the door for her showing off that chivalry isn't dead.

This birthday celebration was a rare public appearance for the two, who have kept their relationship private. Dakota has said that the couple likes to "guard their privacy" in an interview with Vanity Fair in 2022. She also said in that interview that since they started dating in 2017, they "never really left each other."

Chris and Dakota were seen in May together in Hollywood, California on a cute sushi dinner date together. A few days before that they were spotted getting coffee.

"We've been together for quite a while, and we go out sometimes, but we both work so much that it's nice to be at home and be cosy and private," Dakota told Elle magazine in 2021.

The Coldplay frontman was once married to Gwyneth Paltrow, and the two share two children together - Apple, 19, and Moses, 17. The two married in 2003 and famously "consciously uncoupled" in 2016.

A year later, Chris started seeing Dakota. But there's no bad blood between the actresses, according to Gwyneth. In an Instagram Ask Me Anything, she was asked about her feelings for her ex's girlfriend.

"We're actually very good friends," Gwyneth said, "I love her so much. She's an adorable, wonderful person."
