It's 2023 - and it's also a good time to be a Manchester United fan.

The Red Devils endured a torrid 2021/22 campaign, finishing sixth in the Premier League and extending their wait for silverware into a sixth year. Yet Erik ten Hag's arrival in the summer has breathed new life into this stuttering giant and some of its biggest stars.

United start the new year inside the top four, while the likes of Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes are impressing again. Although Ten Hag is enjoying life in Manchester, there's always room for new players. Here are the latest transfer rumours from Old Trafford.

Thuram eyes Old Trafford

Marcus Thuram is interested in joining United, according to BILD.

Thuram, 25, is on the radar of Europe's biggest clubs after helping France reach the final of the World Cup in Qatar. The forward has also performed well for Borussia Monchengladbach this term, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in the Bundesliga.

Thuram is out of contract in June and could on the move this month, as it's believed Monchengladbach want at least €12million (£10.6m) for the talent. United target and goalkeeper Yann Sommer is another Monchengladbach player out of contract in June.

"You always have to weigh up what the financial return would be and what the sporting value of these players is," Monchengladbach chief Roland Virkus recently told BILD.

Although United's interest in Thuram remains unclear, the player is said to be keen on a move to Old Trafford. He is also keen on joining Inter Milan, Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain but will not sign for interested Premier League clubs Newcastle and Aston Villa.

Thuram, who is the son of World Cup winner Lilian, has nine caps for his country and has previously played for Sochaux and Guingamp. He joined Monchengladbach in July 2019.

United keen to tie down Dalot

United will accelerate their contract talks with Diogo Dalot, according to O Jogo.

Dalot, 23, has been United's first-choice right-back since displacing Aaron Wan-Bissaka last season. His contract was due to expire at the end of this term, but the Red Devils recently triggered an automatic one-year extension to temporarily scare off potential suitors.

It's believed United will now try to agree a new long-term deal with Dalot before he enters the final year of his existing contract in July. The Portugal international played for his country at the World Cup and several top European clubs are thought to be after him.

Maguire told to leave Old Trafford

United legend Rio Ferdinand believes club captain Harry Maguire should move on.

The Englishman, 29, enjoyed a brilliant World Cup but has started just three Premier League games this season. Luke Shaw has been preferred to Maguire at centre-back for United's last two fixtures and Ferdinand believes he is no longer part of Ten Hag's plans.

Ferdinand told BT Sport: "It raised eyebrows when you saw Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire on the bench – it shows what Ten Hag thinks of those two guys! If I’m Harry Maguire, I’m looking for a new club right now. He’s faultless for England.

"At Man Utd, it hasn’t worked out for him. This new manager is showing him he’s not going to be one of the top two centre backs. I’d be telling my agent to go and find me a new club where I can play regularly and enjoy my football."

Maguire's contract expires in June 2025, although United have the option to extend it by a further 12 months. Chelsea were linked with the defender earlier this term.
