Logan Paul explains why he chose Dillon Danis as comeback fight opponent

Logan Paul has explained that he chose Dillon Danis as his comeback opponent because he feels the need to punish his rival for his online trolling.

The YouTube star hasn't fought since the summer of 2021 when he faced boxing legend Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition bout, and will finally return to competitive boxing next week against Danis. However, many were surprised by the choice of opponent, given his history of pullouts and high-profile fights falling through for various reasons.

But Paul believes that Danis' social media persona, which has kept him in the headlines through four years of inactivity, needs to be silenced. He insists that the MMA star is an "evil" person, and wants to punish him in the ring when they meet at the AO Arena in Manchester.

"Why did I pick Dillon Danis?" Paul recalled being asked while appearing on The MMA Hour. "Because he doesn't deserve me. But he does deserve to get the absolute s*** kicked out of him and if I get to be that person, that's very exciting to me because let's be honest, nothing about Dillon's striking is mesmerising.

"Nothing about Dillon's striking makes you think twice about the danger on the feet. But he can sell a fight, bro. He's a good troll, he's done a great job, I've got all the back end and he's got none of it. So s***, keep lining my pockets, shout out. He gets a flat rate, I don't even have a flat rate.

"That is unfamiliar for most fighters, most take flat fees but I'm a social media guy. I fully understand the marketing power that we have so I was okay taking no flat fee and going 100 per cent back end. Dillon was the opposite and he had to pay $100,000 to Scott Coker of Bellator just to let him fight."

Danis has been relentlessly mocking Paul in the build-up, and was even slapped with a lawsuit and a Temporary Restraining Order by the YouTube star's fiancee Nina Agdal over his tactics towards winding her up. But it has all worked to make the bout even bigger as fans flock to Manchester next week for the double headliner alongside KSI and Tommy Fury.
